The Three Idiots

The movie is very fun to watch and full of learnings. It is very

entertaining and delivers a message which we can alter for the sake of our future. It
is one of the best movies Ive watch so far that tackles about the life of a college
student which focus on the pressure, fear of failure, coping with family and the
struggle of who you want to be and what others want you to be.

The movie is about three friends who make it to ICE (Imperial College of
Engineering) and how they try to cope through the pressures of sustaining
themselves surrounded by strict professors, severe competition and always being
judged by a cruel grading system. But like a coin that has two sides, here too within
the big pre-defined world there is a world of innocence and enthusiasm, dreams
and goals, friendship and love.

The movie seems to touch the heart of everyone who watch it because it
has aspects of everyone's life in it, things that all of us can relate to. It was a little
rough at the edges at times, but overall, I think it hit the right balance of light
humor and a serious comment on the Indian desperation to first get into ICE and
then survive at ICE. The relationship between students and professors, high
achievers and low achievers, and students and their families was captivating. It
highlighted how the system can thwart creativity, and hold people back from
reaching their full-potential.
Some scenes reminded me of things that I experienced in college and in
high school. I could see a bits of myself and my friend in the character of the very
competitive Chatur, and the brilliant engineer by nature Rancho (Aamir Khan) and
Farhan(Madhavan) and Raju (Sharman Joshi) . And just like what Farhan and Raju
observations on human nature, says that what hurts more than seeing a friend fail is
to see a friend succeed, I just could not help but laugh in agreement at the
truthfulness of that confession.

The message of the movie is to believe in yourself, and don't let a

performance review or promotion in a job define you. There is more to life than
these things - your family, your friends, your internal desires and goals. And the
grades you get in dealing with each of these areas will define you as a person. We
must follow our dreams because we had the power to choose our own destiny.
