finish this thesis as the final task that must be taken to obtain a Sarjana degree (S1)

of English Education Study Program of IKIP-PGRI Pontianak. Then, I also

dedicate this thesis to my beloved brothers and sisters, Madhan Dwi Putra and

Mira Lorenza. Thank you for everything that all of you have given to me. Thank you

ABSTARCT

Gita Aryatie, 2017: The Use Of Pair Check Method To Improve Students Reading
Comprehension (A Classroom Action Research to the Tenth Grade Students of SMA
Negeri 1 Sungai Raya Kabupaten Kubu Raya in the Academic Year 2017/2018)
This research was aimed to find out the implementation of Mind Mapping in
teaching Reading Comprehension and the class situation. This research was conducted
through classroom action research (CAR) design. The researcher choose X IPA2 as the
subject of research based on students problem in reading comprehension.
In this research, the researcher used observation and measurement technique. The
obsservation was done by using observation checklist and field note. The measuremet was
done by giving the test to students which consist of 40 items.
Based on the data display that the students mean score improved significantly at
the third cycle. At the first cycle, the mean score was 33,94, 62,59 t the cycle 2 and 75,94
at the cycle 3. It was also shown from the observation during teaching learning process Commented [U4]: Your abstract is not merely consistent
that showed positive respond when the teachers implementing the method. with the cycle.
Based on the results above, the researcher concluded that through Pair Check
Method the students reading comprehension on descriptive text. The researcher suggested
to the other English teachers who want to teach descriptive text and want to The Use of
Pair Check Method To Improve Reading Comprehension.
