Lipid Lab-Sudan IV Test

This picture is a result of a Sudan IV Test. A Sudan IV Test is used to determine the presence
of lipids. Lipids are molecules which make up the building blocks that make up the function and
structure of living cells. The farthest test tube on the right consists of H2O (water) and oil and
has a clear color to it. The middle test tube is mixed with H20 and Sudan IV and has a slight red
orange color. The last test tube is mixed with H20, Sudan IV, and Oil. It has darker red color to
it. The test tube with the dark red liquid is a positive result for lipids.
