EXPERIMENT 4: THEVENINS THEOREM

( PLO 11; CLO 3, 4)

1.0 AIM

1. To connect the circuit and measure the current and voltage.

2. To determine the different between measure value and calculated value.

2.0 OUTCOMES

At the end of the session the students will be able to:-

1. Understand and apply Thevenins Theorem.
2. Relate Ohms Law and Thevenins Theorem.

3.0 EQUIPMENT

1. Single-phase power supply -- 1 unit

2. Multimeter (DC Ammeter 0-1.0A) -- 1 unit
3. Multimeter (DC Voltmeter 0-30V) -- 1 unit
4. RL = Variable resistor (50K) -- 1 unit
5. R1 and R2 = Fix resistor -- 2 unit
6. Sufficient connecting cables
7. Project Board

4.0 THEORY

Thevenins Theorem
Thevenins Theorem states that in a linear circuit network that has voltage sources and resistance, if it is
seen in any two points, it can be replaced with an equivalence voltage source (VTH) and series with an
equivalent resistance (RTH).
