dream.Ifyouputadreamonpaper,itbecomesagoal.Itisthere,youhavewrittenit.You
canholdyourselfaccountablefornotcompletingit.Measurablegoalsareareallygoodway
ofguidingyourselftoreachyourvision,lookingatyourprogressandseeingwhetherornot
youareontherightpath.
Don'tsetmonetarygoals,butrather(pokertheory)learninggoals.Youshouldfocuson
obtainingmoreknowledgeorimprovingatsomething,somakesurethatyourgoalswill
reflectimprovementandthattheyarenotluckdependant(winninganMTTwouldbeabad
exampleofagoal).Luckdependantgoalscanbecomefrustratingwhenyoudonot

Ok,movingontohabits.Inordertochangeyourbehaviour,youfirsthavetounderstandit.
Manystudieshaveshownthatittakesapproximately30daysofcontinuingbehaviourto
makeanewhabit.Thismeansthatifyouconsciouslydoonethingoverandoveragainfor
30days,youshouldbeabletodoitsubconsciously(onautopilot)afterwards.Ifachange
isn'tveryradical,itispossibletomakeitintoahabitin14days,butoneshouldbecareful
whentryingtochangetoomanythingsatonce,sincethisincreasesthepossibilityof
becomingoverwhelmedandreturningtoyouroldhabits.
Theproblemisthatthisdoesn'tworkifyouwanttochange10thingsatatime(similarto
multitasking,butwe'llfocusonthatlateron).Thatiswhyyoushouldonlytrytotakeon1or
2newhabitsatatime.Anotherimportantthingwithhabitsistonotbetooradical.For
example,ifyouwanttostartexercising,a10minutewalkeachmorningiswaymorelikelyto

drawabigredcrossoverthecalendarforeverydaywhenyoudothehabit
asyouhaveprobablyfiguredoutbynow,youarenotallowedtobreakthechainofred

Thecalendarshouldalwaysbevisible,onyourdesk,infrontofyou.Thiswillhelpwith
preventingyoufromfailing.

achieveoptimalconcentration,focusandenergywithouttheproperphysicalfitness.
Itseemslogicalthatthephysicalfitnessisconnectedtoeverythingthat'sgoingoninour
bodies.Ifweeatwellandexercisewell,wewillhavealotmoreenergythroughouttheday
thatwewillbeabletousefordoingotherstuff.Ourrecoveryandqualityofsleepwillalsobe
betterduetothepropernutrition.
Now,thethingwithexerciseandpropereatingisweallknowthatweshoulddoit,
"becauseit'sgoodforyou"and"healthy",butweareoftentoolazytoactuallydoit.

unlikelytoreachthosegoalsifyoudon'tbreakdownandmakesureyoukeepitinteresting.
SoIsuggestthatyoubreakdownthosegoalsandimplementshortprojectsorchallenges.
Theyshouldbeshort(atleastatfirst),max.1weeklongwhichshouldbejustenoughtimeto
getalotdonebutnotgetboredtooquicklyandgiveup.Youcanalsostartwitheven
shorter,1or3dayprojectsifyouwishto.
Theseprojectsshouldhaveapurpose.Ifyouwanttoimproveyourpokerskills,youmight

realizethatthatkindofsucks.
Youoftengiveupinthemiddleoftheproject,whenthingsgethard.Or,iftheprojectistoo

Manyprofessionalsportsmenuseritualsinordertoendurelong,intensive

repeatoverandoveragain.Itmightbeclosingtheireyes,tappingtheballorvisualizingthe

Sleepingisinessenceverysimilartoexercise.Sleeptoolittle,andyou'llbetiredthroughout
theday.Exercisetoomuchandtaketoolittletimetorecover,yourperformancewill
decrease.Sleeptoomuch,andyou'llfeellazythroughouttheday.Recovertoomuchfrom
exercising,andthemuscleswillstopworkingoptimallyasthey'renotgettingenough
frequentstimulation.
Irecommendtheprettystandard8hoursofsleepanight.Itmightnotbethebestoptionfor
everyone,butit'seasilyapplicabletomostpeopleanditinmostcasesprovidesbetter
recoverythan6or10hoursofsleepanight.

eachday.
Therearemanypeoplewhobelievethattheycanfunctionproperlyon6hoursofsleepa
day,becausethey'velivedlikethisforacoupleofyearsandgotusedtoit.However,the
researchhasshownthatifthesepeoplemoveto8hoursofsleepaday,theywillgetmore
doneintheremaining16hoursthattheywouldhavedonein18hours.Besides,alotof
peoplewastethe2hoursadaywatchingTVorsurfingthenet,whichdoesn'texactlyhelp
withproductivity.
Now,thisagainmightnotbeapplicabletoeveryone,butyoushouldatleasttryitbecause
