BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

IN 1999,the major engineering and software companies agreed on how the internet will change

the engineering software used by facilitating the large numbers of people ( Dossick & Sakagami,

2008) most of the industry leaders predicted that project Web sites will be proliferate rapidly

that e-commerce will dominate all areas of sales and marketing in architecture, engineering and

constructing industry. so many studies have shows that using information communication

technology (ICT) and Architectural engineering ca remain slow in adopting ICT.

Construction project has become so difficult now. the multifaceted responsibility of owner,

such as designer, and engineer is now on the accuracy and the timeliness of information that is

being provided. Such information can be relayed down to a field known as design team, or field

operation.web based information management systems has an advantage that is use in such

difficult setting. Computer can also speed the transmission of information, that ease of

formatting routine documents, and maintain accurate logs of document transfers.

The internet has help develop a program that will give instructional training and standard

operation procedures(SOPs) that can be use for commercial construction in general company. It

assist the general contractor t transfer hard copy document to software copy

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

In order for construction to be successful, Web based Project Management System in the aspect

of administrative document must learn to overcome the challenge ahead. This work is
targeting on the roles of both administrative department and project managers in integrating an

electronic document management techniques and procedures

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

According to (Finch, Flanagan, & March,1996) the general contractor are responsible for the

transfer of document to design team for review. Beginning from 2004 it was said that a small and

medium A/E/C firms would begin to make use of WPMS ( Nitithamyong & Skibniewski, 2004).

Not until in 2009 when the company had a project with an electronic document management

stipulation

OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY

The main objective of web based project management system is to

1 To establish facilities that will integrate project management.

2 Also to help SMEs use Information and Communication Technologies(ICT) in aversion of

new tools and fragmented sector.

3 to create a system/database that will help to facilitate the use of document in web based project

management system

The department quickly allow the general contractor to adjust from paper based process to an

electronic document that will implement a new standard of operation procedure

METHODOLOGY

Is to determine what key factor that influence the implementation of web based project

management system(Dossick& Sakagami,2008) this can be of great benefits to the management

construction projects. The speed of communication can reduce the cost of

communication(Ilich,Becerik,& Aultma,2006).
