Tub Ex Flyer
Tub Ex Flyer
Overview
Features
Standard Mecanum's tube suite includes:
Acoustic tube 44.5 mm [50-4100 Hz] frequency range (Default size):
o 29 mm [500-6000 Hz] frequency range (optional);
o 100 mm [50-1800 Hz] frequency range (optional);
o Custom shape and dimension (optional)
2 microphones for impedance tube suite only;
3 or 4 microphones for impedance/transmission suite tube;
DAQ system with ultra-low distortion audio amplifier;
Tube-X software, automatically communicates with the DAQ (plug & play system);
Verification sample used to check the measurement procedure;
Mounting rings to improve sample position in the tube and avoid acoustic leak;
Mounting grid to test limp materials at a fixed thickness;
Data exports to Microsoft Excel format.
Measured normal incidence properties 2-mic 3 or 4-mic
Sound absorption coefficient
Complex reflection coefficient
Specific surface impedance
Characteristic acoustic impedance
Complex wave number
Equivalent fluid dynamic density
Equivalent fluid dynamic bulk modulus
Transfer matrix coefficients (4-pole)
Tube-X software fully controls the measurement procedure from the calibration to the
measurement itself. It corrects for atmospheric conditions and tube's internal dissipation,
and automatically controls the sound level inside the tube.
The 3 microphones method, only offered by Mecanum, provides more accuracy and precision than the 4
microphones method, with quicker and simpler measurements.

Nova software
Nova predicts sound absorption and transmission loss (and more) of single
or multilayer materials. Simulation is based on the acoustic parameters you
determined with FoamX or direct characterisation apparatuses such as a
airflow resistance meter (SIGMA), a porosity meter (PHI), a tortuosity meter
(TOR), and a mechanical analyzer (QMA).
