Course Title: IWCF Level 3 - Well Control Training

Course Overview
This program is aimed at persons in positions involved in onshore drilling operations. The International Well Control Forum
(IWCF) Rotary Drilling Well Control level 3 course provides the knowledge and practical skills necessary to apply safe well
control principles whilst conducting surface operations. Participants are required to complete the IWCF Drilling Well Control
exams and on successful completion will receive their certification. This certification is globally recognised as industry best
practice.
FSDs experienced and accredited instructors utilise an effective blend of classroom theory, individual exercises, group
discussion and drilling simulator practice. Participants receive maximum assistance from our instructors and sufficient time to
complete practical exercises on the simulator.

Outcomes:
At the end of this five day course you will have received an introduction to, and have an understanding of:
Well control management Barrier Management Stripping operations
Understanding fluids and pressure Kick warning signs Risk Management
Primary well control Shallow gas kicks Handling kicks while out of the hole
Dynamic wellbore pressures Shut-in procedures Problems during well control
Blowout prevention and well Well control methods Simulator exercises and
control equipment Deviated Horizontal well control assessment
Gas migration Handling on-bottom kicks

Assessment:
Two written examinations and a practical simulator assessment must be undertaken, with a pass mark of 70% or greater, to
successfully complete the course.
Written Assessment
Each examination includes multiple choice problem questions, the identification of equipment components, kill sheets and
operating procedures; using diagrams and schematics. All candidates are allowed 1 hour to complete the equipment paper and
1.5 hours for the policy and procedures paper.
Practical Assessment
Each candidate is required to demonstrate his or her practical knowledge during a single well kill assessment exercise
conducted on FSDs accredited simulator. At the end of the practical assessment exercise the candidate will be given their
marks and debriefed before leaving the simulator room.

Each candidate will be asked to sign a printout from the simulator as evidence that the assessment has been correctly
conducted. Should the candidate feel that the assessment was not conducted according to the correct procedure, or has been
conducted in an unfair manner, they can contact IWCF: admin@iwcf.org

Price:
$1600.00 (excluding GST) Includes all materials, meals and certificates.

Duration:
Five days (including assessment).

Certification:
Upon successful completion of this course, each participant will receive:
A temporary certificate (valid for 90 days)
A full IWCF certificate and wallet card, issued by IWCF (Montrose) on verification of results
The Certificate details are stored on a secure website to enable quick verification Certificates for level 3 are valid for 2 years

Pre-requisite:
Candidates who wish to attend must hold a current IWCF level 2 or 3 certificate for rotary drilling. Candidates must
successfully complete IWCF level 3 before attending a level 4 course.

Personnel involved in drilling operations who require IWCF Well Control training. Including drillers and assistant drillers.
