Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
I am teaching about American Symbols. To start off the lesson, I will ask my students what they think an
American symbol is. I will give them time to answer. We will then watch a short BrainPoP Video on common
American Symbols. When the video is done, we will discuss what we watched in the video and why they
symbols are very important to us and our country. When we are done with that, I will have the students go
back to their seats and draw/ write about their favorite American symbol that they saw in the video. Once
that is turned in, I will introduce the activity on Quizlet. I will say it is a fun computer game that has to do with
American Symbols. It has matching games, galaxy games, flashcards, and much more. I will let the students
get on the computers and play with the Quizlet stack. They are free to do whatever form they want to do.

Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
Assess prior knowledge Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) To illuminate common
misconceptions Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) Summative assessment of content knowledge Test preparation
Survey/Poll Discussion starter Homework collection Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity: The students will be plays games, doing
flashcards, or a quiz on the American Symbols that we just learned about. I will walk around and observe as
they participate in the various activities. I will let them play on Quizlet for about 15 minutes.

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10): N/A ( On
Quizlet)

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

Yes No
Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)

Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
Yes
No
Why or why not?
I will display the answers afterwards because I want them to see if they got it right or wrong and why. They
will see the correct answer and then be able to research or find out why they got it wrong. They will be able
to find out why that is the correct answer to the question.

Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?

After the students have played on the Quizlet, We will all come to the carpet and discuss what activities we
did. Once the students share, we will go over the symbols and their correct answers from the Quizlet as a
whole class. That way if students missed the question, they know the correct answer and why it is that
answer.

How will the data be used?

The information will be collected based on who remembers certain symbols. I, as the teacher, will use this
information to know what we need to review and which students are not getting certain symbols. The data
collected will not be for a grade but more for fun and for me to see where the students are in the subject.
Sort of like a pretest. I want to use it to get the students excited about the concept and using Quizlet. I will
not show the data to the whole class because I do not want to discourage them or make some students feel
insecure. I will use the data so that I can play for future lessons and know where Differination is needed.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. I hope the students learn the American Symbols, but I
hope they learn more than that. I want them to be engaged and using technology as much as they can in the
classroom. I want them to be familiar with the tool Quizlet and how easy and fun it is to use. They will be
learning the content while having fun and being engaged.
