- (+) ssRNA (-) ssRNA (+) stranded mRNA (togavirus, poliovirus, Hepa A, Hepa C)

Class V
- (-) ssRNA as a template mRNA (influenza virus)

Class VI
- ssRNA-RT DNA single strand (enzyme: reverse transcriptase) and RNA dsDNA (HIV)

Class VII
- dsDNA-RT (Hepa B)
