3. Describe the steering system of an automobile with help of a neat diagram?

4. What do you understand by directional stability of an automobile? Describe the factors


on which it depends.

5. Explain how the slip angle affects understeer and oversteer?

6. Explain the principal of Ackermann steering gear. The steering wheel diameter of a car
using rack and pinion type of steering gear is 200 mm. Calculate the pitch circle diameter
of the pinion to overcome a resistance of 0.5 KN at the rack, with an effort of 25 N
applied at steering wheel.

7. With the help of a suitable sketch describe the working of any one type of steering system
used in a modern passenger car.

8. Discuss the working of Power steering with neat sketch.
