Puerto Rico: This year, Puerto Rico
added a new holiday to its calendar: Rotary

on Feb. 23. Sylvia Maisonet, now president
of the Rotary Club of Manati, suggested the
idea, and the bill was signed into law on Feb.
17th. Rotarians celebrated the first Rotary
Week by setting up a new Interact club,
broadcasting programs on local radio stations,
and coordinating presentations.

Participants learned that efficient structures

the suburbs of Brisbane. The club has
purchased a vehicle, brushes, rollers, and a
ladder (the Brisbane City Council provides the

help cover the vandalism. The group, which
has also introduced an adopt-a-street
program, now has more than 70 volunteers.
