Dear Parents / Guardians,

You are receiving this letter because your child has expressed interest in becoming a referee for
South Pointe school level volleyball games. M Spiers will be teaching a referee clinic with grade
8 students October 31st, November 3rd, 6th and 8th. Potential referees are required to attend all
clinic dates. Clinics are run from 12:05 until 12:35pm, and there will be formative referee skills
evaluations as well as a short summative written quiz in order for students to qualify to become
a referee. Once grade 8 students have successfully completed the referee clinic, there will be
an opportunity for some of the grade 8 students to referee Grade 6 tournaments on the following
grade 6 tournament nights. Referees who are selected to referee at one of the tournaments
listed below will be paid $25 by the PTAA (Pembina Trails Athletics Association).

Girls Tournament 4 locations (8 referees required) Tues Nov 28th 4-7pm @ Location TBD

Boys Tournament 4 locations (8 referees required) Thurs Nov 30th 4-7pm @ Location TBD

Grade 6 teams are coached by M Spiers, Mr. Brokopiw and Mr. Knight.

Please sign the permission slip below to give your child permission (should they be selected) to
referee at the grade 6 tournament(s). Transportation will not be provided to these events.
