1. Upon completion of this lesson learners will have a moderate level of expertise in the
knowledge of computer software and operating system.
C. Objectives:
1. Improve the knowledge of learners on how Software works and affects them in their
everyday lives.
2. Know relevant information about system software.
3. Acquire specific vocabulary related to software and Internet utilities.
4. Recognize the characteristics of a typical graphical user interface or GUI.
B. Guide Questions:
1. What do software do?
2. What is an operating system?
3. Important functions performed by an operating system.
4. What is Computer Networking
5. What are Importance of computer networks?

TOPIC 1: Review Software Applications


Lesson Activities:
1. Motivation:
Ask the students what are the common applications that they use on their mobile
devices.
2. Class Discussion:
List down the apps that the students mentioned from the question.
Discuss what is a software and its types; the System and Application software.
Ask the students to classify their answers if it is a system software or an application
software.
Discuss and explain OS and its function.
Discuss the common utility software.

Ask the students why we need computer networks and data communication.
2. Class Discussion:
Discuss about computer networks and the devices computers use to
communicate
Discuss the internet and intranet
Discuss the types of networks
Ask the students what are the different ways to connect to the internet
List their answers and discuss each.
Ask the students how they use internet today.
List the answers of the students and create a mind map.
