What day was death of Jesus?

How can we know exactly when Jesus died?

The bible (Word of God) bears record of the testimony of Jesus; for all scripture is given by
the inspiration of God through the writings of the prophets and apostles who tell us exactly
the day of the death and resurrection of Jesus.

Luke 19:10 “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
26”
And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the
people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end
thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.” Daniel
9:26

Matthew 26:1-2
1
And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said unto his disciples,
2
Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to
be crucified.

Luke 22:1-30
1
Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover. 2And the
chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people.
3
Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve. 4And
he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him
unto them.
5
And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money. 6And he promised, and sought
opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude.
7
Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed. 8And he sent
Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat.
9
And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare? 10And he said unto them,
Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of
water; follow him into the house where he entereth in.
11
And ye shall say unto the goodman of the house, The Master saith unto thee, Where is the
guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples? 12And he shall shew you a
large upper room furnished: there make ready.
13
And they went, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.
14
And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him. 15And he
said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:
16
For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom
of God. 17And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among
yourselves: 18For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the
kingdom of God shall come.

19
And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my
body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. 20Likewise also the cup after
supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.
21
But, behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table. 22And truly the Son
of man goeth, as it was determined: but woe unto that man by whom he is betrayed!
23
And they began to enquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this
thing. 24And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the
greatest. 25And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and
they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors.
26
But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he
that is chief, as he that doth serve. 27For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that
serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth.
28
Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations. 29And I appoint unto you a
kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me; 30That ye may eat and drink at my table in
my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

On the 14th day of the first month, God commanded the children of Israel to observe the
Passover forever in Exodus 12 and Leviticus 23:1-5 as a holy feast unto the Lord.

“And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week
he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of
abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined
shall be poured upon the desolate.” Daniel 9:27

John 2:18-19
18
Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that
thou doest these things? 19Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in
three days I will raise it up.

Matthew 12:39-40
39
But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a
sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: 40For as Jonas
was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days
and three nights in the heart of the earth. (Jonas 1:17)

Matthew 26:31-32
31
Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is
written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad. 32But
after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.

Mark 15:25-29
25
And it was the third hour, and they crucified him. 26And the superscription of his
accusation was written over, THE KING OF THE JEWS.

27
And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left.
28
And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors.
29
And they that passed by railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, thou that
destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days,

John 19:30-42
30
When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his
head, and gave up the ghost.
31
The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain
upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought
Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
32
Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified
with him. 33But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not
his legs:
34
But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood
and water. 35And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he
saith true, that ye might believe.
36
For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not
be broken. 37And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.
38
And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the
Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave.
He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus.
39
And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a
mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight. 40Then took they the body of
Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.
41
Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new
sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid. 42There laid they Jesus therefore because of the
Jews' preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.

Leviticus 23:6-14 lets us know the day after Passover is the Feast of Unleavened Bread
which represents the 15th day of the first month; Israel was freed from bondage of the
Egyptians (Exodus 23:15); this being a high Sabbath day (no servile work is done) explains
why the Jews made sure Jesus was buried before the evening. The evening brings forth the
next day which begins the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Therefore on the 14th day of the first
month, the Passover; Christ the “Passover Lamb” died that third hour. As we know this day
is true because it is confirmed in the scriptures (Rev. 5:6, 7:10, 13:8; Ezekiel 45:21-22;
John 18:31-33, Mark 15:25; Isaiah 53). Matthew 26 and 27 for the events of the Passover

Luke 24:1-8
1
Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the
sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.
2
And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. 3And they entered in, and found
not the body of the Lord Jesus.
4
And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by
them in shining garments: 5And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth,
they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?
6
He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,
7
Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified,
and the third day rise again. 8And they remembered his words

Therefore, we now see that Jesus rose on the seventh day (Saturday) and not on first day
(Sunday) of the week which proves that Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath. As we see in Leviticus
23:9-12, Jesus is the wave offering that had to be presented without blemish before God the
Father to take away the sins of the earth; which is why Mary Magdalene could not touch him
in John 20:17. That day after the Sabbath is the first day of the week that Jesus (first fruit of
the dead presented as a wave offering before the Father) is restored to his Kingdom as God
sitting on the right hand of the Father. (Leviticus 23:15-21; I Corinthians 15:35-50; Acts 2:25-36)

And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:

Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the Sabbath.

In Genesis 1:3-5, God separated day from the night and each day began at the evening. 3And
God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4And God saw the light, that it was good:
and God divided the light from the darkness. 5And God called the light Day, and the
darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
