Ping Pong Tournament

Serena Williams and Roger Federer dominate lawn tennis while the world watched in
anticipation during the Wimbledon matches. Today we will watch in gleeful excitement
its cousin sport, the Table Tennis or popularly called Ping Pong, and witness our best
athletes play for the gold.

There is almost little known fact about this indoor sport compared to the big events in
Lawn Tennis that seems to take over an entire field. Table Tennis originated in Victorian
England where it is played among the upper class as a parlour game. We celebrate
time which allowed almost anyone now to play the sport. In fact, I highly encourage our
youth to partake in sports such as Table Tennis.

I am very excited to welcome you all to todays tournament matches. Moreover, I look
forward to seeing our players hopefully compete in local and international events and
bring more honor to our country and our city.

To our players, winning is the ultimate prize but you might look back to this experience
with glee to the journey and the new found friendships. Coaches, I am very proud that
you have more than coached a champion but also mentored discipline and character
among these athletes. To the parents for your unconditional love and support which
drove our players to their best. It is to you I extend my congratulations.
