General Overview
Norway is run as a
constitutional monarchy with
a parliamentary democratic
system of governance. The
king is the head of state,
which is King Harald V who
was crowned on January 17,
1991 (Political System of

The Storting has 169
members elected from
19 counties.
Municipal and county
council elections are
held every 4 years.
Parliament elections
alternate with 2 years in
between the two
election processes.
You must be 18 years
old and registered to
vote as a resident in
Norway.
