India Head University Relations

Amazon
1st October, 2013

Dear Sir

I am writing to you to express my interest in joining Pathways (Operations leadership development program).

In my work experience of 4.8 years as a process engineer and production manager, I have led teams and designed
processes. I want to pursue my career in the field of operational strategy and Amazon is renowned to be at the cutting
edge of operational excellence and customer service. Further, my value system closely aligns with the values of Amazon,
especially customer centricity, result orientation and ownership. Hence, I believe that this program will give me a perfect
platform to develop into leadership roles in operations.

I believe that the expectations from the role in expertise and leadership skills closely match my experience, skill-sets and
interests. During my stint at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, I actively participated in events across the
spectrum and was elected to various positions of responsibilities. It sparked my interest in managing events and leading
teams.

Post college, I joined Dr. Reddy's where I actively took up tasks on capacity planning and executed projects right from
building proposals to design and commissioning. I developed deep understanding of processes and utilized it to solve a
pressing capacity shortage problem of the plant. I also learnt root cause analysis and scale-up techniques during this
stint.

My role at Asian Paints as a Production Manager gave me an opportunity to lead large teams, negotiate with multiple
parties, design and implement work-flows and processes, and manage changes during project executions (including
taking critical decisions under uncertainty and pressure). It gave me a deep perspective on leading teams, managing
talents, building systems, implementing changes and influencing key stake-holders.

I believe that these learning and skills, combined with value-add at Indian School of Business, will be a valuable asset for
the team. Relevant details of my experience are encapsulated in my resume.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Warm Regards
