1) What are the underlying forces that led to K&Ss desire to make changes to its
current supply chain network?

2) What factors should K&S take into account in its decision to redesign its supply chain
network?

3) Should K&S expand the current capacity in Israel or open a new plant elsewhere?
Use the data in the case to help support your answer.

4) Assuming K&S opens another plant, what are the advantages and disadvantages of
the different locations?

5) What recommendation would you give K&S management regarding the location
choice? What implementation challenges do you foresee? How would you address
those challenges?

Benihana of Tokyo Assignment Questions

1) What is Benihana selling? What is unique about their business?

2) What are the keys to Benihanas success? (Compare Benihanas operating ratios
with those of typical service restaurants given in Exhibit 1 of the case.) How do
these keys arise?

3) Examine Benihanas operating system:

(a) Draw a diagram of the production process


(b) Where are the flows? Where in the process are inventories held?
