Dear Site Selection Committee,

On behalf of the City of New Orleans, please accept my strong support for locating Amazons
second corporate headquarters in New Orleans, one of Americas oldest and most culturally
significant cities.

A City that Thinks Big and Creatively. Just as Amazon has transformed retail and service
delivery through innovations in technology and an unparalleled commitment to customer service,
the City of New Orleans has become the nations most immediate laboratory for innovation and
change and is leading the way for the future.

Proven Ability to Attract and Develop Technical Talent. New Orleans attracts great talent
that enables companies to thrive here. Home to nearly 52,000 undergraduate students enrolled in
10 higher education institutions, New Orleans is only 1 out 15 U.S. cities with two medical
schools. Additionally, this Brain Magnet City has 3 business schools and 2 law schools. Our
entrepreneurial rate is 68% higher than the national average, and this year, SmartAsset named
New Orleans #1 for growth in tech and #5 for women in tech, with 34% of our tech jobs filled by
women. Globally recognized brands like GE Digital and Gameloft have significant corporate
operations here.

New Orleans has become a leader in water management, sustainability, and resilience as one of
the Rockefeller Foundations first partners in the 100 Resilient Cities initiative. We recently
released the citys first Climate Action Strategy designed to modernize our energy use and
reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030. New Orleans is the city of the future.

Requisite Size and Logistical Connectivity. Boasting a metro area population of nearly 1.3
Million, 17 airlines fly through New Orleans to 59 nonstop destinations, including eight
international destinations including Canada, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Germany, Panama
and the Dominican Republic. New Orleans new $1 billion airport is under construction and will
be completed in 2018. The Port of New Orleans is Americas most intermodal port; it is the only

deep water port with access to all six US Class I freight railroad companies. Our robust
transportation and logistics infrastructure is well-suited to Amazons business needs.

Stable and Business-Friendly Environment. In addition to our friendly business climate, New
Orleans offers an excellent quality of life. Weve invested $2 billion to rebuild every school
since Hurricane Katrina, and nearly every public school student attends a charter school that are
improving educational outcomes for New Orleans next generation across racial and class lines.

Home to approximately 133 festivals each year, distinct walkable neighborhoods, over 120 miles
of bikeways, expanded streetcar lines, and ten institutions of higher education, our city is in the
top 5 for attracting millennials according to Time and broke records in 2016 with over 10.4
million visitors.

New Orleans stands united with the State of Louisiana to produce a highly competitive package
to Amazon. We will put all of our resources behind this seminal transformative project to ensure
an expedited development timeline.

As New Orleans prepares to celebrate our 300th birthday in 2018, I truly believe that New
Orleans is stronger than ever, and the perfect location for Amazons second corporate
headquarters.

Thank you for your consideration, and please feel free to reach out for additional discussion.

Sincerely yours,

Mitch Landrieu
