Dear Professor Bell:

Thank you for the opportunity to introduce myself to you. As a Journalism Major at the
University of Rhode Island, I am particularly interested in pursuing a career within the realm of
this intriguing industry. I wish to pursue a career in media relations, specifically in social media.
I want to pursue this avenue, due to my social media internship that I participated in this past
summer. I think it is very interesting and alluring to communicate with an audience on a platform
that is overflowing with content and competing for the audiences attention.
My research of this career revealed that PR professionals are very good communicators,
planners, and clever persuaders. They strive to communicate with an audience in hopes to gain or
keep their trust as a good standing company, product, or as a client. I am confident that I can
persuade an audience and communicate effectively to help the client, product, or organization
achieve its goal.
I am looking forward to my future career in Journalism/Public Relations. For now, I aim to
contribute to this learning environment by asking good thought provoking questions and by
using the skills I have learned in my journalism classes to provide a different perspective.
