DISCOVERY EARLY YEARS

A BEACONHOUSE SCHOOL

Project Letter Term I

Class KG
Dear Parents,

We are writing to tell you about an exciting project we have started in our class.

As you know that we in Discovery focus on Project-based learning that is student centered. Instead of
using a rigid lesson plan that directs a learner down a specific path of learning outcomes or objectives,
project-based learning allows in-depth investigation of a topic worth learning more about. With Project
Based Learning, children learn to plan and research, ask questions, make choices within alternatives,
and apply knowledge gained within their regular classes. They gain a chance to have real life
experience and can think analytically.

Our project is called Digging for Dinosaurs! It starts with a problem question What happened
to the dinosaurs in older times?

The subjects integrated in this project are KUW, Art, CLL and Music.

Students will be actively involved in identifying, inquiring and investigating about their
knowledge about paleontology and what a paleontologist does. The children will create a
Jurassic Park to show a dinosaur habitat.

Students will be assessed individually on their content knowledge, their collaboration skills
and their presentation skills. We will be sending rubrics for each individual assessment as they
are conducted. You may find them useful in understanding what is required from the
students during a project.

As a parent, we would be obliged if you can discuss the project at home, encouraging the
child to think about it and ask questions about the topic.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about the project.

Sincerely,
Kindergarten Teachers
Ms. Hamna, Ms. Rita and Ms. Sehrish
