CHAPTER 01

1.1) INTRODUCTION

A business owner who does any, or all, of their business using the

internet, is running an online business. Running an online business

can include buying and selling online, and providing an online

service. A wide variety of businesses can be found online, in many

different industries.

Anyone can start an online business. If you have a unique product or

idea, you can find a way to sell or trade it online. It's just like a

traditional 'bricks-and-mortar' business, except your office or shop is

online, so you have to decide how it will look and appeal to

customers.

identiity, regardless of whether its an active one or just for referrals.

The Internet has become incredibly easy to use, and is now more

business friendly than ever. Hence, getting your business online could be

the best decision that your business makes.

1. Still, the internet is considered as a source of information gathering

for the majority of your customers. Many people are there who still

prefer the live interaction when they buy.

2. So many scams on the internet.

3. When your visitor finds you then it means they have been checked

many links already.

1.7) REVIEW OF LITERATURE

Web Designers must take note of consumers' needs because the usability

is the starting point to get the confidence and support of the consumers.

All they have to do are just browse for the product they want in the

website and within a few more mouse clicks they are off.

Such simplicity and comfort makes online shopping appealing for

customers.

Amazon accounted for 60% of total U.S. online sales growth last year

alone, according to Forrester estimates. Amazons changing the

paradigm, says John Haber, CEO of supply chain consultancy Spend

Management Experts. Theyre changing customers expectations

because theyre giving them the low-cost shipping along with the speed.

And then you change the mentality of the consumer. Now its the

expectation. Though millennials make 54% of their purchases online,

the rate of adoption by older people is growing at a faster rate. Non-

millennials made 49% of their purchases online, according to the

survey, compared with 44% in 2014.And as for shopping by smartphone

users: the survey found that 63% of millennials use their phones to shop,

while 19% of baby boomers and 8% of seniors use their phones to make

purchases.

According to this table, out of 30 respondents for online business,


53.33% are females whereas 46.67% are males. Therefore, the females
are more engaged in online shopping as compared to males.

CHAPTER 4 FINDINGS OF THE STUDY

As per my study, the following inferences I have concluded :-

There has been steady increase in the number Internet services year

on year.

The % increase of online shoppers have been steadily grown in the

pie chart.

The future holds good for due to the advent of technology with

respect to high speed data transfer which is possible today.

As per the graph the % increase in online shopping has been upto

8% from 2015-2016. This has been made possible specifically by

the generation next shoppers and the seniors who can now easily

access websites and online retail shops through smartphones.

4.8) SECONDARY DATA

There has been a shift of shoppers towards easy mode of online

shopping. With todays generation next being technology-savvy and

technology easily available at their disposal due to smartphones and

WiFi

This can also be referred as shopping on the go.

4.9) ANALYSIS

a) Gender Determination

Out of 30 respondents for online business, 53.33% are females whereas


46.67% are males. Therefore, the females are more engaged in online
shopping as compared to males.

b) Educational Qualifications

Out of 30 respondents for online business, the graduates hold a major


share constituting 50% while H.S.C holders are second with 33.33% and
the post graduate are16.67% during the survey.

4.10) CONCLUSION OF THE STUDY

1. First and foremost, I conclude that internet services is here to stay.

This indirectly proves that conventional retailers need to tighten their

seat belts and come up with innovative schemes, methods.

2. Online business has opened up markets and avenues for low cost

goods which can be directly sourced from the manufacturer.

3. internet has helped in developing new parallel business avenues such

as transportation, logistics as well as courier delivery business.
