DESIGN CALCULATIONS

FDN CODE : 395

Direct Load = 3000 Kg
=3000 X 9.81 = 29430 N
=29.43 kN
Bending Moment = 9500 Kg-m
= 9500 X 9.81 = 93195 N-m
= 93.19 kN-m

Axial Load Due To Moment=
Where E= centre to centre distance between piles (Refer pile cap

drawing)
93.19
= 1.10
= 84.72 kN
Self Weight Of The Pile Cap = 1.7 X 1.7 X 0.5 X 25 + ( 1 X 1 X 1.5 X 25)
= 73.65 kN
29.43 84.72 73.65
Load Per Pile = 4
+ 2 + 4 = 68
29.43 84.72 73.65
Load Per Pile = 4
2 + 4 = 16.59

Load Capacity Of Pile = 240 kN in Compression. AS PER IS:2911 PART III CLAUSE *
Load Capacity Of Pile = -120 kN in Tension
Therefore Load On Pile Is Less Than Load Carrying Capacity Of Pile
Hence Ok
PROVIDE AN OVER ALL DEPTH OF 500 mm pile cap
Bending moment= 2 X 68 X 0.05(0.55-.5) = 6.8 kN-m
Mu/bd2 is very small quantity (as per sp16)
Provide nominal reinforcement
0.12
= 1000 500 = 600 2 to be distributed on both sides
100

So provide Y12@180mm c/c both ways at Bottom and Top.

From IS 2911 part III, The Safe Load For Vertical Bored Cast- In-Situ Under-Reamed Piles In
Sandy And Clayey Soils Can Be Found From Table 1 Of Appendex B.
From Clause B 1.1 Of Appendix B Of Is:2911 Part III, The Table Values Are Applicable To
Clayey Soils Of Medium Consistency (4<N<S).
From The Soil Report Submitted, The SPT Value, N Of The Soil Is equal to 5. Hence the safe
Load is directly read from The Table. As Per Table1 of IS2911 part III the safe loads are taken
as follows,
DIA OF PILE LENTH OF PILE SAFE LOAD
COMPRESSION(tonnes) UPLIFT(tonnes)
300 mm 3.5 m 24 12
