Task Title: The Rainbow Fish Reflection

1
The Rainbow Fish Reflection

The lesson is to help students understand the general concept of sharing and how having

friends can be a good thing, the standards of this lesson were average as I was to just ensure

that students understood the story. The lesson is for the KG2-2 students and in their morning

circle center, I was trying explaining to the students the fish cycle, and the students seemed to

have more knowledge than I had expected. The students were very engaged in the but got

distracted a few times as the words were difficult for the students, and even if I wanted to

change the context I couldnt as this was part of my assessment and I were to follow along

the words which I tried to, however the book was too big to prop on my lap. The students

were very into the story though and asked questions after the lesson. The students prior

understanding of the overall general idea of the concept was not as great as I hoped, they

fully understood the general idea and even asked why he doesnt share later on. In the

students perspective they were trying to grasp the lesson and wanted to get involved, Saif

tried to take away my finger puppet and bell which I took away from him which resulted into

him getting upset. My lesson met my teaching goals as I had good time management and the

lesson ended as it was timed to be. I was very disappointed in this lesson, not just because it

was my assessment, but because of how good Dear Zoo, was compared to this difficult and

not very much alive lesson. I had many regrets but I keep reminding myself that we learn

from our mistakes and experiences and that I should always try and improve in the future. I

tried to scaffold during the lesson by changing some of the context and trying to make

students understand the story.
