Task Title: Letter a Lesson Reflection

Letter a Lesson Reflection
Select (S):
The lesson I taught today was about the lowercase a sound which is ah. I wanted the students to be able
to give me different words start with the sound ah, students were able to identify & recognize the letter/
sound a ah, and students were able to identify environmental print.

Describe (D):
The lesson was for 4-5 years old students in KG2 & it take place in Al Darari Kindergarten. I tried to let the
students understand and recognize the letter a and that the sound of it is ah, students was able to write
the lowercase a & recognize the letter a in the environment, students was able to identify some words
thats start with the letter a like apple ant. The sound ah was easy for the students to understand and
the song helped them with memorizing the sound which is ants on my apple, ah ah ah.

Analyze (A):
During my lesson some of the students was excited and the other was bored, I think that the students who
were bored its because they didnt have an English teacher and when I came to teach them they didnt
understand what Im saying, so they didnt want to listen but I expected that & for the excited students some
of them enjoyed the lesson and some other was able to understand what Im saying and was responding to
me, as their teacher said some of them went to nursery so they knew some English. They students were
engage and most of them join the lesson when I started singing the song of sounds song they were excited
and tried to do the movement with me. I can say that most of the students understand the concept when I
started telling them that ah is for apple ah is for ant & they were repeating after me. One of the
students was very good even though he didnt know how to speak in English, but he was trying to say every
single word that I say for the whole lesson, and I let him be because I was happy that he was trying.

Appraise (A):
The students werent interested at first with the lesson, because theyre not used to English lessons since
they dont have an English teacher, one student was like Teacher Jawaher, teach us in Arabic we dont
want English. Some other students were interested in the lesson, some of them was repeating the words
that I said in English, most of the students like the part where I sang ants on the apple ah ah ah with the
movement. Students did enjoyed the activities I did coloring, matching & circling the letter a.
My lesson did meet my goals where I hoped the students will be able to identify and recognize the letter a,
few students kept calling me whenever they see the letter a in the class.

Transform (T):
In the future I would like to let the students give me words start with the sound were taking, also next time
I hope I would be able to explain things more simply for them simpler than I did, you I should try my best
to manage them because if I did many students will be able to focus on the lesson. Next time I must make
the activities more fun for them instead of tracing, matching, coloring and all the other activities they used
too. I used the eye contact strategy to make sure everyone is involved in the lesson.
