    Interviewing a Migrant: Coming to Oakland

    Part 1: Identifying a migrant in Oakland

    Choose a family member or someone they know that has migrated to East Oakland from another location.

    Part 2: Creating Interview Questions
    Students create questions to ask their interviewing migrant
    Create FIVE Questions of your own to ask your interviewee about their migration experience.
    Create 5 questions your own about any of the topics below:
    5 Questions that must be answered:
    HISTORY
    Where did you migrate from? (What places have they lived before East Oakland).
    Why did you migrate to East Oakland? (Economics, Housing, Employment)
    When did you migrate to East Oakland?
    FAMILY
    Who did you migrate with? If you migrated alone, why did this happen?

    SUCCESSES AND CHALLENGES
    What has your experience living in East Oakland been like? Discuss successes
    and challenges faced with the migration.

    Part 3: Conduct Migrant Interview (DUE by FRIDAY, OCT 27th)

    Your migrant interview must be completed outside of class.
