Lesson idea implementation:

The teacher is responsible for going through each of the holidays listed in the standard. The students should
be told when the holidays occur, what they are about, and who is involved in them. Once the class has
learned about the holidays, they will be tasked with the timeline project. In this project, the students will be
responsible for at least 7/10 holidays. Their timeline must include the date of the holidays for the holidays
that remain the same year to year, and they must include the month in which the other holidays occur.
Additionally, the students will add a brief description of each holiday.

Student learning will be assessed through the completion and correctness of the assignment. To extend
learning, students can add in the additional 3 holidays or be tasked to find other holidays that are celebrated
around the world. The lesson will be concluded by allowing the students to share about their favorite holiday
on their timeline. Students will receive feedback on a later date with a grade on their timelines. They will be
assessed on the correctness of the dates, the order of the dates on the timeline, and the accuracy of the
information about the holidays.
