1.0 GeneralDescription

TheNuAireSmallAnimalCageChangingStationModelNU619isacabinetwhoseuniqueconfiguration
offersthebenefitsofverticalHEPAfilteredairflowforproductprotectionontheworksurface.In
addition,theNU619providesimprovedallergenpersonnelprotectionbyincorporatingaHEPAfiltered
downdraftvacuumontheworksurfacetoassureminimalexposuretoanimalhair/danderaswellascage
beddingmaterial.However,theNuAireModelNU619shouldnotbeusedasasubstituteforaClassII,
TypeA2BiologicalSafetyCabinet.TheNU619isnotacontainmentdeviceforairborneparticulatein
lowtomoderateriskhazardresearchasprescribedbytheCDC/NIHBiosafetyinMicrobiologicaland
BiomedicalLaboratories.

TheNU619'sdesignandairflowpatternisillustratedontheairflowschematicdrawing.TheNU619's
designincorporatestwoimpeller/blowers,bothasupplyandexhaust,eachwithitsownassociatedHEPA
filterprovidingexcellentsystemfunctionandmaximumfilterloadingcapacity.Thedesignedairflow
pattern,beingasinglepasssystem,alsoeliminatesanyheatbuildupwithintheworkzone.Theairflow
patternstartswiththesupplyprefilterlocatedontopofthestation.Theairflowcontinuesthroughthe
supplyimpeller/blowerandforcedintothesupplyHEPAfilterproviding99.99%particleremovalat0.3
micron.Theairflowcontinuestomoveinauniformverticaldownflowpatternprovidingparticulatefree
airintheworkzone.Astheairflowcontinuestomovetowardtheworktray,someparticulatefree
downflowispushedoutthetoptwothirdsoftheworkaccessopening.

Theworktrayconfigurationprovidesauniquedowndraftairflowpatternthatoffersimprovedallergen
personnelprotection.Downdraftvacuumslotsareprovidedaroundtheworktrayperimeterfor
improvedparticulatecontainmentofanimalhair/danderandbeddingmaterials.Additionaldowndraft
vacuumslotsareprovideddividingtheworktrayintoquadrantsforimprovedcrosscontamination
protectionfromcagetocageduringthetransferprocess.ThedowndraftHEPAfilterprovides99.99%
particleremovalat0.3micronandislocatedundertheworktrayinitsownimpeller/blower/filter
cabinet.Astheairispulledfromtheworktray,throughtheprefilterandintotheblower,theairthen
passesthroughthedowndraftHEPAfilterandisexhaustedbacktotheroomprovidingimprovedallergen
personnelprotection.

1.1SafetyInstructions
ThesesafetyinstructionsdescribethesafetyfeaturesoftheSmallAnimalCageChangingStation
ModelNU619.Thestationhasbeenmanufacturedusingthelatesttechnologicaldevelopmentsand
hasbeenthoroughlytestedbeforedelivery.However,thestationmaypresentpotentialhazardsif
itisnotinstalledandusedasinstructedforitsintendedpurposeoroutsideofoperating
parameters.Therefore,thefollowingproceduresmustalwaysbeobserved:
Thestationmustbeoperatedonlybytrainedandauthorizedpersonnel.
Foranyoperationofthisunit,theoperatormustprepareclearandconcisewritten
instructionsforoperatingandcleaning,utilizingapplicablesafetydatasheets,planthygiene
guidelines,andtechnicalregulations,inparticular.

o Whichprotectivemeasuresapplywhilespecificagentsareused?
o Whichmeasuresaretobetakeninthecaseofanaccident?

3.0 Warranty

NuAire,Inc.warrantsthatitwillrepairF.O.B.itsfactoryorfurnishwithoutchargeF.O.B.itsfactorya
similarparttoreplaceanymaterialinitsequipmentwithin36monthsafterthedateofsaleifprovedto
thesatisfactionofthecompanytohavebeendefectiveatthetimeitwassoldprovidedthatallparts
claimeddefectiveshallbereturned,properlyidentifiedtothecompanyatitsfactory,chargesprepaid.
Factoryinstalledequipmentoraccessoriesarewarrantedonlytotheextentguaranteedbytheoriginal
manufacturer,andthiswarrantyshallnotapplytoanyportionoftheequipmentmodifiedbytheuser.
ClaimsunderthiswarrantyshouldbedirectedtoNuAire,Inc.settingforthindetailthenatureofthe
defect,thedateoftheinitialinstallationandtheserialandmodelnumberoftheequipment.

ThiswarrantyshallnotapplytoanyNuAireproductorpartthereofwhichhasbeensubjecttomisuse,
abuse,accident,shippingdamage,improperinstallationorservice,ordamagebyfire,floodoractsof
God.Iftheserialnumberofthisproductisaltered,removedordefacedastobeillegible,theWarranty
shallbenullandvoidinitsentirety.

Thewarrantyisforthesolebenefitoftheoriginalpurchaserandisnotassignableortransferable.Prior
toreturninganyitem,foranyreason,contactNuAireforaReturnAuthorizationNumber.Thisnumber
mustaccompanyallreturns.AnyproductshippedtoNuAirewithoutthisnumberwillbereturned
refusedshipmentorcollectfreight.

4.0Shipments

NuAiretakeseveryreasonableprecautiontoassurethatyourSMALLANIMALCAGECHANGINGSTATION
arriveswithoutdamage.Motorcarriersarecarefullyselectedandshippingcartonshavebeenspecially
designedtoinsureyourpurchase.However,damagecanoccurinanyshipmentandthefollowing
outlinesthestepsyoushouldtakeonreceiptofaNuAireSMALLANIMALCAGECHANGINGSTATIONtobe
surethatifdamagehasoccurred,theproperclaimsandactionsaretakenimmediately.

4.1 DamagedShipments

4.1.1 Termsarefactory,unlessstatedotherwise.
Therefore,itisimportanttocheckeachshipmentbeforeacceptance.

4.1.2 Ifthereisvisibledamage,thematerialcanbeacceptedafterthedrivermakesanotationonthe
consignee'scopyofthefreightbill.Thenaninspectionmustbemadetoverifytheclaimagainst
thecarrier.Thisinspectionisthebasisofyourfilingtheclaimagainstthecarrier.

4.1.3 Ifconcealeddamageisfound,itisabsolutelynecessarytoNOTIFYTHEFREIGHTAGENTATONCE,
andrequestaninspection.Withoutthisinspection,thetransportationcompanymaynotaccept
aclaimforlossordamage.Ifthecarrierwillnotperformtheinspection,anaffidavitmustbe
preparedstatingthathewascontactedonacertaindateandthathefailedtocomplywiththe
request.Thisalongwithotherpapersinthecustomer'spossessionwillsupporttheclaim.

5.0 InstallationInstructions

5.1 Location
TheNU619SmallAnimalCageChangingStationcanbelocatedanywherewithintheanimalfacility.
However,formaximumproductprotection,thestationshouldbeusedawayfromlaboratorypersonnel
trafficlanes,airvents(inorout),doors,and/oranyothersourceofdisruptiveaircurrents.

Donotpositionthecabinettopreventaccesstothepowercord.Thepowercordplugservesasthe
disconnectandshouldremainreadilyaccessible.Iftheoutletisinaccessible,suchasaconduit(hardwired)
connection,thenanappropriatewarninglabelshouldbeappliednearthecabinetson/offswitchtoindicatethe
circuitbreakeronthepowerdistributionpaneltobeused.

Ifdraftsorotherdisruptiveaircurrentsexceedthedownflowvelocityofthestationthroughtheaccess
opening,thepotentialexistsforcontaminatedroomairtoentertheworkzone.Remember:Alwaysuse
properlaboratorytechniques.

5.2 SetUpInstructions
Removeoutershippingprotection(cartonorcrating).Thestationisfastenedtothebaseskidanditis
usuallythebestproceduretoleavetheskidinplaceuntilthestationislocatedinitsapproximate
positiontofacilitateeaseinhandling.Itcanbedisconnectedfromtheskidbyremovingthebrackets,
bolts,andscrewsholdingthestationtotheskid,thenremovethescrewstodisconnecttheendsofthe
skid.

Afterthecabletieshavebeenremovedandthepowercableispluggedinfortheunit.TheNU619can
beraisedontoitsliftsystemandrolledawayfromtheendoftheskid.Itwilltake510secondsof
holdingtheUPbuttonforthelifttobegintomoveforthefirsttime.

5.3 PlumbingServices
Typically,theNU619isnotprovidedwithplumbingservices.Inspecialcases,groundkeycocks,needle
valvecocks,orcustomerspecifiedwateringsystemhardwarecanbeadded.Ifgroundkeycocksare
added,thetypeofservicewouldbespecifiedbytheremovablebuttononthehandle.TheGroundKey
cocksarenotrecommendedforpressureover30psi(2.0BAR).Reducingvalvesshouldbeinstalled
externaltothestationifnecessary.Groundkeycocksshouldneverbeusedforoxygenservice.Aspecial
needleforoxygenserviceisrequiredandavailableuponrequest.

Externalconnectionisto3/8inchNPTcouplingintheinnersidewalls.Pluggedclearanceholesinthe
outersidewallsareprovidedforeasyaccesstotheinnercouplingsviaaNPTnipple.Connectiontoplant
utilitiesshouldbemadewithpropermaterialsfortheindividualserviceandaccordingtonationaland/or
localcodes.Itisnotrecommendedthatflammablegasesbeusedinthestation.However,ifflammable
gasisused,emergencyshutoffvalvesshouldbelocatedinanaccessibleareaexternaltothestation.
Observealllabelspertainingtothetypeofserviceandoperatingpressure.

5.4 ElectricalServices
TheNU619isprovidedwithanelectricalpowercord.Thestationrequires115VAC,singlephasepower
andisrecommendedtobeonitsownbranchcircuit,protectedwitha15Ampcircuitbreakeratthe
distributionpanel.

Note: THISUNITCONTAINSELECTRONICBALLASTSFORTHEFLUORESCENTLIGHTING.
ELECTRONICBALLASTSOPERATEWITHHIGHINRUSHCURRENT.
ITISNOTRECOMMENDEDTOUSETHISPRODUCTWITHGROUNDFAULTINTERRUPTERS
(GFCI'S)BECAUSETHEBALLASTSMAYCAUSETHEGFCITOTRIP.

5.5 Certification
Afterinstallationandpriortouse,NuAirerecommendsthatthestationberecertifiedtofactory
standards.Ataminimum,thefollowingtestsshouldbeperformed(seeSection8.5).

1. HEPAFilterIntegrity/Housing&FrameLeakTest
2. DownflowAirVelocityMeasurement
3. ExhaustMotor/BlowerSetup

Itisrecommendedthatthesetestsbeperformedbyaqualifiedtechnicianwhoisfamiliarwiththe
methodsandproceduresforcertifyingBiologicalSafetyCabinets.

Aftertheinitialcertification,NuAirerecommendsthatthestationberecertifiedataminimumonan
annualbasisandaftereveryfilterchangeormaintenanceactionoranytimetheoperatorfeelsitis
necessary.Notethatthestation'sfiltersandsealsprovidepremiumperformance;QualityControlin
bothdesignandmanufacturingassuresuperiorreliability.However,protectiontotheworkinprocess
canbesovitalthatcertificationtotheperformancerequirementsshouldbeaccomplishedasstatedto
insuresafetyestablishedbythefactorystandards.

6.0 OperatingtheNU619

Thefollowingisadescriptionofthecontrolsandindicators(seeDrawingBCD13421).

6.1 BlowerKeys
Theblowerkeysindicateandcontrolon/offpowertobothsupplyandexhaustmotor/blowers.

6.2 LightKeys
Thelightkeysindicateandcontrolon/offpowertothefluorescentlightingsystem.

6.3 OutletKeys
Theoutletskeyindicatesandcontrolson/offpowertotheoutlets.

6.4 SupplyAirflowControl
Theoperatingsupplyvelocityiscontrolledbyapotentiometer.
Thepotentiometerislocatedonthecontrolboardundertheheatsink.

Thepotentiometercontrolstheoperatingvoltageappliedtothemotor/blower.Thepotentiometeris
adjustableover270degreeswithaslottedscrewdriver,whichvariestheappliedvoltage.This
adjustmentshouldonlybemadebyaqualifiedtechnicianemployingathermoanemometerorvelometer
inordertoinsureairflows.

6.5 ExhaustAirflowControl
Theoperatingexhaustvelocityiscontrolledbyapotentiometer.Thepotentiometerislocatedinthe
controlcentertotherightofthemainboard.

Thepotentiometercontrolstheoperatingvoltageappliedtothemotor/blower.Thepotentiometeris
adjustableover270degreeswithaslottedscrewdriver,whichvariestheappliedvoltage.This
adjustmentshouldonlybemadebyaqualifiedtechnician.

6.6 ECMotorAirflowControl(Optional)
TherearetwopotentiometersthatadjusttheDCControlVoltageforthemotor/blowers.Theseareboth
locatedonthecontrolboardwiththesupplybeinginthecenterandtheexhaustbeinginthecornerof
theboard.Theseadjustmentsshouldonlybemadebyaqualifiedtechnician.

6.7 SupplyandExhaustMinihelicGauges
Thestationisequippedwithbothasupplyanexhaustminihelicgauge,whichdisplaysthestaticpressure
ofthesupplyandexhaustpositivepressureplenums.Thegaugesarecalibratedininchesormmofwater
gaugepressure.AstheHEPAfiltersloadwithparticulatematter,theamountofstaticpressurewill
increase,anindicationofthe"health"ofthefilters.

6.8 DigitalLightTimerOperation(Optional)
Tooperatethedigitallighttimer,firstpresstheONkeyforthefluorescentlightonthecontrolpanel.
Thenpressthebuttonforthelighttimeronceandthelighttimerwillturnonandatimerof5:00will
appear.Pressandholdthebuttonuntilthedesiredtimeisreachedandthetimerwillcountdownfrom
there.Thelightswillflashoncewithoneminuteremaining.Toturnthelightoffeitherpressthebutton
forthelighttimerortheOFFkeyonthecontrolpanel.

7.0 OperatingGuidelines

Itisacceptableandsometimesrecommendedtooperatethestationcontinuously.Thestationwillthen
remaininitsinitiallycleancondition.Ifforanyreasontheunitisturnedoffforsometime,dailyor
weekly,turnthestationonandrunfor10minutesbeforeusing.

Allowonlyessentialitemsintheworkstation.Newitemsintroducedintotheworkareashouldbe
placedwithinoneoftheworksurfacequadrantstominimizecrosscontamination.Allworkshouldbe
performedwiththeoperator'shanddownstreamofthecriticalprocesspoints.Unnecessarymovement
withtheworkstationshouldbekepttoaminimum.

7.1 OperatingSequence:
StartUp
Turnonstation'sblowerandlights.Blowerspeedmustonlybereadjustedbyqualifiedmaintenance
technicians.Goodprocedureincludesthedecontaminationorwipedownofstationsurfaceswith
chemicaldisinfectantbeforeworkcommences.


NNote:DONOTUSEANYCHLORINATEDORHALOGENMATERIALS.

Allowblowertooperateforaminimumof10minutesbeforeasepticmanipulationsarebeguninthe
station.Anadditionaladvantageisobtainedfrompurification(filtration)oftheroomaircirculated
throughtheequipment.Becauseofthecharacteristicscontributedtothequalityofthelaboratory
environment,someownersleavetheminoperationbeyondthetimeofactualuse.

MinimizeRoomActivity
Activityintheroomitselfshouldbeheldtoaminimum.Unnecessaryactivitymaycreatedisruptiveair
currentsaswellasinterferewiththeworkoftheoperator.Apersonwalkingpastthefrontofthe
stationcancausedraftvelocitiesupto175fpm(.88m/s)whicharesufficienttodisrupttheairbalanceof
theLaminarFlowUnit.

UtilizeUnidirectionalAirflow
Theoperatormustkeeptwoimportantfactsinmind:

1. TheairassuppliedtotheworkareathroughtheHEPAfilteriscontaminantfree.
2. Airbornecontaminationgeneratedintheworkareaiscontrolledbytheunidirectionalvertical
flowairstream.Asolidobjectplacedinalaminarairstreamwilldisrupttheparallelflowand
consequently,thecapabilityofcontrollinglateralmovementofairborneparticulates.Aconeof
turbulenceextendsbehindtheobjectandlaminarityoftheairstreamisnotregaineduntila
pointisreacheddownstream,approximatelyequaltothreetosixtimesthediameterofthe
object.Withintheparametersofthiscone,particlesmaybecarriedlaterallybymultidirectional
eddycurrents.Thedowndraftvacuumsourceontheworksurfacegreatlyreducestheabove
effect.However,workingwithpropertechniqueisalwaysthebestmethod.


TerminalPurging&Wipedown
Followingcompletionofthework,allowthestationfora23minuteperiodwithoutpersonnelactivityto
purgetheunit.Thedecontaminationoftheinteriorsurfacesshouldberepeatedafterremovalofall
workmaterials.

Prefilters
Locatedundertheworksurfaceisaprefilterarea.Thisareaformstheairpathtotheexhaust
motor/blower.Iftheairflowisblockedbyexcessiveanimaldanderorbeddingmaterials,the
performanceofthestationcouldbeseriouslyaffected.Therefore,THEPREFILTERSSHOULDBECHECKED
ANDCLEANEDNOLESSTHANONAWEEKLYBASIS.Theprefiltersmaybevacuumedtoremovethe
materials.Theprefiltersmayalsobereplacedasnecessary(seereplacementpartslist).

ShutDown
Turnoffblowersandlights.Donotusestationasadepositoryforexcesslaboratoryequipmentduring
periodsofnonoperation.



8.0 GeneralMaintenance
Allmaintenanceactionsonthisequipmentmustbeperformed
byaqualifiedtechnicianwhoisfamiliarwiththeproper
! CAUTION
maintenanceproceduresrequiredforthisequipment.
Thisincludesbothcertificationaswellasrepair.

Normally,nopreventativemaintenanceisrequiredontheinteriorofthestation.Themotorislubricated
forlifeandisthermallyprotectedwithautomaticreset.Theentirelampassemblyislocatedunderthe
removablesupplydiffuser.Motorcontrolsandstationswitchesarelocatedinthecleanareaofthehood.

However,itisrecommendedtoperformroutinepreventativemaintenance.Additionally,itis
recommendedthatthestationbecertified,persection8.7afterthestationhasbeeninstalledand
annuallythereafter,orwhenevertheoperatorhasreasontobelieveitnecessary.

8.1PreventativeMaintenance

Inadditiontotheannualcertificationprocessitisrecommended
thatthefollowingpreventativemaintenancebeperformedona
regularbasistoensurethestationremainsinsafeworkingorder.

8.1.1 Prefilters
Theprefiltersshouldbeinspecteddailyandcleanedonaregularbasisasneededorinaccordancewith
establishedfacilityguidelinesandSOPs.Thiswillensurethatproperairflowswillbemaintained.

8.1.2 HydraulicLift
Thehydraulicliftshouldbeinspectedannuallybyrunningitfullyupanddownandobservingforproper
operation.

8.1.3 CasterAdaptor
Theadaptorsthatsecurethecastertothestainlesssteelhydrauliclegshouldbecheckedannuallyfor
tightnesstothehydraulicleg.Iftheyarefoundtobeloosetheyshouldberemovedandreinstalled
withblueLoctitetoensuretheystayinplace.

8.1.4 Casters
Thecastersshouldbeinspectedannuallyfortightnesstothealuminumblock.Iftheyarefoundtobe
loosetheyshouldberemoved,inspected,andreinstalledwithBLUELoctite.Theycanbetightened
withwrench.Ifthecasterstemappearstobebentordamagedreplacementmaybenecessary,
pleasecontactNuAiresTechnicalSupport18003283352.

8.1.5 Push\PullBars
Thepush\pullbarsshouldbeinspectedannuallyandtightenedasnecessary.Therearetwonutsthat
securethemtothecabinet.Theyareunderacoverontheblackendpieces.Theycanbetightened
witha7/16socketornutdriver.

8.1.6 CordReel
Thecordreelandthecorditselfshouldbeinspectedforwearonanannualbasis.

8.2 Cleaning

8.2.1 ExteriorCleaning
Thepowdercoaturethaneandpolycarbonatepanelsareeasilycleanedwithalcoholfollowed
withanymildhouseholddetergent.Useasoftclothonthepanels.Specialcleaners/polishers
areavailableforpolycarbonateifdesired.

Thecleaners/polishersare: NovusPlasticPolish#1&#2
MirrorGlazePlasticPolish
MirrorBritePolish

Theuseofpolycarbonateshassomeimportantdon'ts:
DoNotuseabrasiveorhighalkalinecleaners.
DoNotscrapewithsqueegees,razorblades,orothersharpinstruments.
DoNotuseBenzene,leadedgasoline,Acetone,Toluol,CarbonTetrachlorideorKetones.

8.3 FluorescentLampBulbReplacement
Thefluorescentbulbsarecoolwhite(T8)styleandlocatedabovethesupplydiffuser.Theliferatingof
thebulbsis9000hoursbasedonthreehourburningcycles.

8.3.1 ToReplaceaBulb:
1) Switchthestationlightoff.
2) Raisehingedwindowtoaccesssupplydiffuser.
3) Removesupplydiffuserviafasteners.
4) Thefluorescentbulbsareremovedbyrotatingthebulbsuntilthebulbpinsarefreetobe
gentlypulledfromthetombstones
5) Reversetheaboveprocedurestoreplacethebulbandreassemblethestation.

8.4 HEPAFilterReplacement
ItisrecommendedthatthestationhavetheintegrityoftheHEPAfiltersverifiedbyaqualifiedtechnician
aftertheunithasbeeninitiallyinstalled.Thereafter,certificationperSection8.5shouldbeperformedon
anannualbasisorwhenevertheoperatorhasreasontobelieveitisnecessary.TheHEPAfiltersunder
normalusageandbarringanaccidentdonotneedreplacementuntiltheeffluxvelocitycannotbe
maintained.

8.4.1 SupplyHEPAFilter
1) Disconnectelectricalpowerfromstation.
2) Removesidefilteraccesscoverfromstation'stophousingviafasteners.
3) Raisehingedwindowtoaccesssupplydiffuser.
4) Removesupplydiffuserviafasteners.
5) Loosenfilterframeholddownspringclampsunderfilter.
6) Oncefilterisloose,pulloutHEPAfilterfromsideaccessusinghandlesprovided.
7) Whenreplacingthefilter,useonlyfiltersofthesameratedflow,pressuredrop,andsize.
8) Toinstallnewfilter,greasethetopgasketofthefilterwithsilicongreaseandcarefullyinstall
ontofilterframe.
9) Tightenfilterframeholddownspringclampsevenly,sofiltergasketwillhaveequalpressure
fromallareas.
10)Replacediffuserandsideaccesscoveroncefilterisinstalled.

8.4.2 ExhaustHEPAFilter
1) Raisestationtoitshighestavailableworkheight.
2) Disconnectelectricalpowerfromstation.
3) Removerightsideaccesspanel.
4) Removesidefilteraccesscoverfromstation'sbasehousingviafasteners.
5) RemoveprotectivescreenunderexhaustHEPAfilterviafasteners.
6) Loosenfilterframeholddownspringclampsunderfilter.
7) Oncethefilterisloose,pulloutHEPAfilterfromsideaccessusinghandlesprovided.
8) Whenreplacingthefilter,useonlyfiltersofthesameratedflow,pressuredrop,andsize.
9) Toinstallnewfilter,greasethetopgasketofthefilterwithsiliconegreaseandcarefully
installontofilterframe.
10)Tightenfilterframeholddownspringclampsevenly,sofiltergasketwillhaveequalpressure
fromallareas.
11)Replaceprotectivescreen,sideaccesscover,andfilteraccesscoveroncefilterisinstalled.

8.5 Motor/BlowerReplacement
Themotor/blowerassembliesshouldneverneedanypreventativemaintenance,butincaseofa
malfunction,thefollowingstepsshouldbetaken.
1) Disconnectelectricalpowerfromstation.
2) Toremovethelower(exhaust)motor/blower,liftandremovetheworktrayandtheprefilter
screenassembly.Then,removethenutsthatsecuretheblowerplatetothestation,liftoutthe
plateandmotor/blower,anddisconnectthewireharnessandgroundcable.Toremovethe
upper(supply)motor/blower,removetheprefilterassembly.Thenlifttheplatewiththe
motor/bloweranddisconnectthewireharnessandgroundcable.
3) Reassemblebyreversingtheabovesteps.

8.6.1 DownflowCalibration
Step1: Placeavelometerinthestationworkzoneinaparallelplane2inchesfromthesupply
diffusersurface.Spotcheckseveralpointsontherecommendeddownflowvelocitytest
gridfoundinTable10.

Step2: Ifnecessary,adjustsupplyairflowcontrollocatedinthecontrolcenter,totheabove
statedairflowrequirements.

8.6.2 ExhaustAirflow
Procedure:Method#1
Afterdownflowcalibrationiscomplete,removetheworksurface,stainlesssteeldripcover,
andthemeshscreenwiththeelasticbandintheexhaustplenum(leavetheblackprefiltersin
place).Thenplaceadirectinflowmeasuringdevice(withthehoodremoved)upsidedown
overtheopeningtotheexhaustimpeller.SealtheopeningaroundthebaseoftheDIMwith
ducttape.Thevolumeofairflow(inlocaldensitymode)shouldbesetat450+50CFMfor
(NU619300),475+50CFMfor(NU619400)and500+50CFMfor(NU619500).

AlternateMethod:
Afterdownflowcalibrationiscomplete,removetheworksurface,stainlesssteeldripcover,
andthemeshscreenwiththeelasticbandintheexhaustplenum(leavetheblackprefiltersin
place).Thenplacean18"x18"x12"cardboardbox(withbottomremoved)aroundopening.
Addaholeatthecenterofthefrontofthebox(6inchesfromthebottom,9inchesfromthe
side).Createafixturetoholdathermoanemometerprobe,andtake11readingsacrossthe
openingstarting4inchesfrominsideofbox,reading1inchapart,untilprobeendis14
inchesfrominsideedgeofthebox.Averagethe11readings,(compensateforthelocalair
density),multiplytheaveragebythearea,(2.25ft2)andthenmultiplybytheconversion
factor.68.
Thevolumeofairflowshouldbesetat450+50CFMfor(NU619300),475+50CFMfor
(NU619400)and500+50CFMfor(NU619500).
