English 2 Writing in the discipline

This course is principally intended to develop the composition skills of students in English
language. To achieve this, the teacher will facilitate the students in discovering their strengthens
and weaknesses in oral and written communication and provide training for the enhancement of
their basic skills. This course also targets the improvement and refinement of students
academic writing skills in English. The students will be charged with task and responsibility of
the highest order, the success or failure of writing outputs.

Zoology

This course includes the basic concepts of general zoology including reproduction and
development, basic concept of animal behaviour and ecology.

Small Ruminants

This emphasizes types and breeds of goats and sheep, factors favourable to small ruminant
production, rearing systems & phases of production. This also covers general care,
management and housing goats/sheep breeding. & fertility; Nutrition & Feeding; Common
diseases and parasites of goats and sheep; establishing a small ruminant farm & assessing the
production systems

Large Ruminants

This course includes the maintenance of housing facilities, farm implements and surrounding
areas. This covers providing forage, breeds and breeding system. This also emphasizes
production fundamentals in large ruminants.

Slaughter of Farm Animals

This course includes the animal stress and pain, effects of stress and injury on meat and by
products quality. This also has focus on hides and skin quality, marketing system and losses.
Relation of animal vision, learning and smell to stress and injury, general principles of handling
of farm animals and the methods in slaughtering and tools and equipment to be used.
