PROJECT R&D+I

TITLE
SWIM - SOIL WATER INTERFACE MONITORING: DEVELOPMENT OF AUTOMATIC
ANALYSIS TOOLS

HIGHLIGHTS
Development of methodologies for online analysis of soil contaminants

ABSTRACT
Development of automatic methods of analysis for monitoring the leaching of compounds in soils
as potential contamination of groundwater.

It is intended to develop methodologies based on spectrophotometric detection in order to

quantify bioavailable compounds. When passing from soil to water, they will be potential
contaminants of groundwater and groundwater. Particular emphasis will be given to the
determination of heavy metals, anthropogenic soil contaminants, and emerging pollutants such as
perchlorate.

The objective of the application to leachates will be to include pre-concentration and in-line
extraction steps. In this context, functionalized solid supports can be used, which will also allow a
semi-quantitative analysis in situ. Implementation of the methodologies developed in a real - time
monitoring of the leaching effects of the water on the soil column.
