ProTeus V Evaluation Software Installation Instructions

Thank you for taking the time to review our ProTeus CMMS software. The following instructions
will guide you through to installing a fully functional evaluation version of our award winning
software.
The installation includes a sample database as well as a tutorial manual that will help you
understand how our products operate.
The software will operate for 90 days after installation, please contact our Support Team at
Eagle Technology, Inc. if you have any questions.
Important: You will need to save the ‘setup.exe file, which will be used for removal of the
ProTeus V Evaluation software.
The installation will take approximately 15 minutes to complete.

Installation Prerequisites

Please verify the following prior to performing these installation procedures:


 Operating systems supported:
Windows 2000 Professional Sp4 or later.
Windows XP Professional Sp1A or later.
 The TCP-IP network protocol must be installed and operational.
 The installation must be performed logged in with ADMINISTRATOR rights to the LOCAL
PC.
 ProTeus V requires Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) v2.7.
MDAC v2.7 will be installed or updated automatically to meet this requirement.
 Regional Settings Date must be set to a four-digit year (mm/dd/yyyy).
 Verify that any previous versions of ProTeus have been removed.
 Internet Explorer version 6.0 Sp1 or higher is required.
 Close out of all other programs before starting the installation.
 The software will need about 265 MB of hard disk space.

Note: When installing on a computer with Windows XP with SP2, it is highly recommended to
temporarily disable Windows Firewall and Antivirus during installation.

Step 1: Installation

Note: The entire installation must be performed logged in with ADMINISTRATOR rights to the
LOCAL PC.
1. Download the ZIP file from this website. Unzip the file.
2. Run the Setup.exe file.
3. The installer will attempt to install the ProTeus V Evaluation in the following directory:
C:\Program Files\Eagle\ProTeus V Eval. Follow all of the installer’s default settings.
4. Click OK, when the “Service Operation has completed successfully” message
appears.
5. When prompted for Database Type and Server Name, MSDE should automatically
be inserted for Database Type and your Computer Name will be displayed for the
Server Name. Click OK and then Yes.
6. When prompted, click Finish.
7. When prompted to restart your system, click Yes.

Step 2: Start ProTeus

Note: You do not need to be logged in with ADMINISTRATOR rights to the LOCAL PC to run
ProTeus.
1. To start the ProTeus program go to Start>Programs>ProTeus V>ProTeus V.
2. In the dialog box enter MM for Login and MM for the password and click OK.
3. After the user enters a valid login name and password, the ProTeus V application is
loaded, and the main menu displays.
4. At the menu bar go to Other>Options>Set Drive for Attachments. Click on “C” from
the list and click OK.
5. Print out the Tutorial Manual for instructions on how to use the software. The manual
can be found at Start>Programs>ProTeus V>Tutorial Manual.

Removal of ProTeus Software

After the review of ProTeus is completed, the software can be removed by the Setup.exe
procedure. The removal must be performed logged in with ADMINISTRATOR rights to the
LOCAL PC.
1. Double-click the setup.exe.
2. Click Next.
3. Select “Remove” and click Next.

4. Follow the on-line prompts through to the Finish prompt.


5. Using Windows Explorer look under C:\Program Files and delete the Eagle folder
including any sub-folders.
6. Delete the database start manager by selecting > Start>Programs>Startup>Start Server
Manager. Right-click on the Start Server Manager and select Delete.
7. Restart the computer in order to complete the removal.
