From Sister Wanda Harris - Leeds, England

Are We Our Brothers Keeper?
Many members of the Leeds Stake must certainly feel they
are, for they have gone to considerable effort, expense,
and time to support the Building Program for the Leeds
Chapel.
There have been few Saturdays that Bishop Harold Green,
Jennifer, his daughter and Erika Szymoszowsky from the
Halifax Ward have not driven the traffic congested road
from their city to Leeds to work on the site. Other
names, such as Derek Nicholson and Derek Baldwin also
of Halifax are frequently written on the work register
for volunteering labor to help complete the building.
In February, 1962, members of the Bradford Ward MIA
presented a most entertaining version of Sleeping Beauty.
They not only gave those attending an interesting evening
they also donated the funds received from the sale of
tickets to the Leeds Ward Building Fund even though
they are endeavoring to increase their own building fund
for the future chapel to be built in Bradford. Besides Keith Durham - Leeds Ward, Bishop Harold Green - Halifax

From Sister Gertrude Hertig - Liibeck, Germany

A Building Supervisors job is not all work when there are
eight Lady Missionaries around. Liibeck was made an All
Lady Missionary District in April, 1962. The Lady Mis
sionaries wanted to let the people of Liibeck know about
them and about the Ward Chapel under construction, so
they went to the newspaper office to solicit their help.
A photographer arranged to meet the Lady Missionaries
at the Building site. Nothing would do but to have Brother
Walter Hertig, the Building Supervisor, in the middle of
them. While a little fun was going on, the photographer
took a picture. This happy picture was printed and many
read about the missionaries and about the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the newspaper, Liibecker
Nachrichten.
This was just the beginning of the enthusiasm that the
Missionaries had. On their day off, they went to the Build
ing site, determined to help speed up the Building pro
gress. Brother Hertig and the two Building Missionaries
were overjoyed at their presence.

The building has been growing steadily. Saturday, August
4, 1962, we were hoping to hoist the fifth and heaviest of
the ceiling trusses into place, but did not know if there
would be any help show up as many local members were
away on holiday. Our whole family went to work at the
site even two-year old Janeen, but she and I were not
needed except to take pictures. Our faithful Brother Thomas
from Hull brought the Supervising Elder and his companion
and another boy from Hull, and the Beverley proselyting
Elders. By 9 :00 A.M. that truss was in place. Brother
Thomas turns out faithfully several days a week and though
he is lame he does so much to help in the work.
Monday, August 6, being a bank holiday, the Hull Branches
turned out in force at the Chapel site. One Sister told me,
as I took her to the train, that she had enjoyed working on
the Chapel so very much. It was amazing to her that
she had been able to come, for being a nurse she was
very busy and her husband is not a member of the Church.
