1.

A simply supported beam of length 10 m carries a point load of 5 kN and 15 kN at a

distance of 3 m and 6 m respectively from the left end. An uniformly distributed load of
10 kN/m acts between these point loads. Draw the SFD and BMD and find the maximum
bending moment and the point of contraflexure .
2. A beam 10 m long and simply supported at each end, has a uniformly distributed load of
1000 N/m extending from the left end upto the centre of the beam. There is also an anti-
clockwise couple of 15 kNm at a distance of 2.5 m from the right end. Draw the S.F. and
B.M. diagrams.
3. A simply supported beam of length 5 m, carries a uniformly distributed load of 100 N/m
extending from the left end to a point 2 m away. There is also a clockwise couple of 1500
Nm applied at the centre of the beam. Draw the S.F. and B.M. diagrams for the beam and
find the maximum bending moment.
4. A cantilever of length 4 m carries a uniformly distributed load of 1 kN/m run over the
whole length and a point load of 2 kN and 4 kN at a distance of 1 m and 3 m from the free
end. Draw the S.F. and B.M. diagrams for the cantilever.
