TOPIC PRESENTATION

I. GENERAL SUBJECT AREA

Application of Mechanical Engineering for Running a Generator using Plastics as their fuel.

II. SPECIFIC TOPIC

Plastics used as fuel to run a generator machine.

III. SPECIFICS OF RESEARCH

A. RATIONALE

In this world we're living, one of the main problems we are encountering is how we
lessen the waste product that we used in our daily lives. One of the highest waste product that is
harming our environment and very hard to deplete or mostly lessen was plastics.Over 500
billion pounds of new plastic is manufactured each year and roughly 33% of that is single use
and thrown away.

The research will focus on how we can recycle or even make plastic s a useful
component in extracting fuel and use it in a machine like generators. the researcher want to
attain a solution in recycling and making plastics the alternative fuel in the future.
B. RELATIVE REVIEWS

Pyrolysis machine and process can help attain a solution in recycling and making plastics
the alternative fuel in the future, recycling existing plastics into fuel would keep the plastics out
of water ways and would be a big help in the environment and using them as fuel, for
generators etc. and it can be widespread and be used in the future.

Pyrolysis (overview) Pyrolysis is an advanced conversion technology that has the ability
to produce a clean high-calorific value fuel from a wide variety of bio mass and waste streams.

Plastics-to-fuel technologies are expected to be particularly helpful in island nations

where fuel prices are high and landfill options are limited. Communities now have the potential
to create some of their own fuel locally, providing economic and environmental benefits, while
removing a portion of the waste stream that potentially causes harm to their waterways, reefs,
and tourism.

C. DESIGN CONCEPTS

If you heat plastic waste in non oxygen environment, it will melt, but will not burn. After
it has melted, it will start to boil and evaporate, you just need to put those vapors through a
cooling pipe and when cooled the vapors will condense to a liquid and some of the vapors with
shorter hydrocarbon lengths will remain as a gas

Construction of prototype pyrolysis reactor

1. Build a robust leak-proof reactor chamber.

2. Build a condensation tube of copper, steel or aluminum.
3. Build a system of monitoring the temperature of the feed.
4. Build a system to efficiently condense and collect the mixtures of the product.
