- Fig. 1.19(D) the student independently makes inferences about photographs
and text read aloud by the teacher and independently.
Time: 30 minutes
Materials needed:
- Clue worksheet
- Mystery bag with pictures/objects inside
- Clue book
- Spring inference notecards
Anticipatory Setting: Ask the students how they know it's going to rain?
Objective: Students will be able to sketch their own clues to make inferences after
playing a game 5 times.
Relevancy: they can be able to infer the weather, so then they can decide what to
wear. (ex. Rain boots, an umbrella, etc.)
Instructional Input: discuss what it means to infer
Modeling: I will say I can infer that Donovan doesn't know how to tie his
shoelaces because I saw him struggling last time or I can infer that Ms. Vasquez
was eating a boiled egg because it smells like eggs
Guided Practice: I will read them spring inferences and they can discuss the
answer with their partner. Then I will show them pictures from a mystery bag and
they have to infer what it is. Finally I will show them the clue book.
Independent Practice: the students will make their own clues
Assessment: make sure they are explaining why they infer that
Closure: some students can share their pictures and the class can infer what they
mean
Sponge: infer more things from the mystery bag.
