In her article Political Science Teaching Across Europe, Briggs examines the recent
popularity of political science by European students. Briggs notes that while political science
courses traditionally follow a lecture style format, in Europe there has become greater emphasis
upon teaching transferable skills. This includes presentation skills and group work among other
things. In addition to transferable skills, Briggs notes that in Europe there is a strong push for
students to participate in real politics. Gaining hands on experience in an attempt to make
students more competitive in the workforce. While Briggs notes that these are ideas are very
similar to those of the United States, she also notes differences. Briggs writes that in Europe
much more attention and focus is placed on comparative politics, while political science in the
United States is more focused on quantitative research.

Title of Article: The Effects of Presentation Format for Behavior Modeling of Interpersonal
Skills in Online Instruction
Author: Min Young Doo
Year: 2005
This study was conducted to determine the most effective model to teach interpersonal
skills in an online learning environment. To do this researchers used four models: video,
pictures plus audio, audio only, and text-scripts only. The result were then measured by
reactions of the learners as well as how well the learners retained the content shown. Doo,
concluded that there were no significant differences in learning outcomes between models.
Because of this Doo recommends that it is best to use cost-effective model presentations when
teaching interpersonal skills online.

Name of Article: Football and Concussions
Author: Daniel Flynn
Journal/Newspaper, etc: Telegram and Gazette
Year: 2013
Flynn writes about the massive number of head injuries, mainly concussions, caused by
the game of football. He notes that in the United States, an estimated 300,000 sports-related
concussions occur annually. However, although the number of concussions is high, little is
being done to bring down that number. Flynn notes many concussions go unreported. In
addition those that do suffer from a concussion often resort to remedies such as concussion
proof helmets or brain pad mouth pieces that have not been proven to work. Flynn
acknowledges the deep rooted passion and business that is the football industry, but argues
even the only game that matters, doesnt mater as much as your brain.
