Tips for Healthy Grocery Shopping
Topic:Food Labels.
General Purpose: To Inform.
Specific Purpose: To inform my audience how to understand food labels.
Central Idea: The three most important things to understand about food labels are the ingredients
list, the basics of the NutritionAL Facts Panel, and the most popular nutrition content claims.
Body:
I. CheckING the ingredients list of a packaged food product is an important and useful
step to understand what it is made of. AVOID ENDING A SENTENCE WITH A
PREPOSITION. FURTHERMORE, YOU MUST REFERENCE FOOD LABELS
IN YOUR MAIN POINT SINCE THIS IS YOUR TOPIC. EVERY MAIN POINT IN
THE BODY MUST REVOLVE AROUND YOUR TOPIC.
II. Comprehend the basic elements of the NutritionAL Facts Panel will help us to make
better decisions according to our needs. MENTION FOOD LABELS IN THE MAIN
POINT.
III. The most popular content claims in food products can tell you about its nutritional
properties and value. HOW DOES THIS RELATE TO FOOD LABELS? ONE
MORE THING, THIS MAIN POINT IS TOO SIMILAR TO THE SECOND ONE.
BOTH MAIN POINTS RELATE TO THE CHOICES THAT WE MAKE BASED
ON THE INFORMATION FOUND IN FOOD LABELS. YOU MUST RETHINK
THIS MAIN POINT. COULD YOU PLEASE SEE ME AFTER CLASS TO
DISCUSS THIS? I KNOW THAT YOU HAVE TO RUSH OUT, BUT I WILL
TALK TO YOU FIRST.

YOUR IDEA IS REALLY GOOD. I AM ONLY WORRIED ABOUT THE SIMILARITY BETWEEN
MAIN POINT II AND III. I WILL EVEN FINISH THE CLASS JUST A FEW MINUTES
BEFORE 8:40 TO DISCUSS THIS WITH YOU. GRADE: 35/35
