Title of Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing Opportunity: Bugscope Project URL of Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing Opportunity: http://bugscope.beckman.uiuc.edu/ Describe how you would use the Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing Opportunity in your classroom: Students would use this to compare different bugs. I would have them create questions to ask an entomologist(a person who studies insects) What technologies would be required to implement this proposed learning activity in a classroom? Computers and microscopes Describe how the following features are addressed in this learning experience (note: all of them may not be addressed in the project, but most should be if you are reaching a high LoTi Level.): a. Collaboration with peers, near-peers, mentors outside their classroom and often beyond their school: Students will be able to speak with an entomologist and ask questions. b. Student-centered learning and knowledge creation (collecting original data and or producing original products as a result of engaging in the project): Students will gather data and formulate questions. c. Higher-order thinking: Students will learn about different types of bugs before going on bugscope. Students will create their own questions to ask an entomologist and create a project on a bug of their choice. d. Students publishing their original work to others who will use/care about their product: Students will not be publishing their work online.
