In the students classroom, they are working on a new math
concept - Number Sense. My site supervisor has asked me to
come up with different ways to help teach Child A Base Ten
Block lesson. I have created an activity to help him gain an
understanding of Base Ten Blocks through a method he is
familiar with and likes. This task will be divided up into two
different lessons - one activity sheet will be completed before
moving to the next.
Activity that will focus on Base Ten Blocks (Number Sense).
Objectives:
1. The activity will help the child become more familiar with
Base Ten Blocks.
2. The activity will help introduce the new math concept of
Base Ten Blocks to Child A through a method he is
comfortable with.
3. The activity will help give the staff an alternative method
to evaluate his math skills to give him a grade.
Materials:
- Mystery Missing Number activity sheets x2
- Puzzle pieces (King Fu Panda & Blaze and Monster
Machines)
Description:
1. I will set out the activity in front of the child.
2. I will explain the activity to him and use the teaching
strategy of scaffolding until he understands the
expectations of the task.
3. I will prompt him throughout the activity ti ensure he is
understanding the lesson and activity.
