Guidance for Lab

Part A. Beginning of the Experiment.

Step one: Close the tank valve. Please remember that vertical position is
open.

Step two: Open the vacuum pipe. Please remember that vertical position
is open.

Step three: Open the faucet to inject water.

Step four: Switch on the power button.

Step five: Switch on the vacuum pump.

Step six: Close the vacuum pipe when the pump inside is full of water.

Step seven: Switch off the vacuum pump.

Step eight: Close the faucet.

Step nine: Start up the supply centrifugal pump quickly. Switch on the
black knob in clockwise direction. Click the green button once.
Step ten: Please wait for 2 mins. Then open outlet valve of the supply
centrifugal pump until its fully open.

Step eleven: Start up the frequency converter. As shown in the circle

(marked number 4), there are two buttons. The upper button adjusts the
torque, and the lower button adjusts the speed. Please remember that
electric current cannot be zero during the adjusting process.

Step twelve: Open the inlet pipe valve until it is fully open.

Step thirteen: Adjust the angle of diffuser to a large value. Please

remember that step eleven, twelve and thirteen should be conducted at the
same time.

Part B. Ending of the Experiment.

Step one: Close the outlet valve of the supply centrifugal pump until the
sound of supply pump operation decreases. Then click the red button
rapidly to stop the pump running and switch off the black knob in
counterclockwise direction.

Step two: Open the tank valve.

Step three: Please wait for about 3mins until the water inside the tank
drops up to about 1 meter. Then close the inlet pipe valve.
Step four: Increase the angle of the diffuser to release the water quickly.
During the water releasing process, gradually reduce the speed. Please
remember that electric current cannot be zero. Wait for about 8mins and
then close the frequency converter.

Step five: Decrease the angle of the diffuser up to 10 degrees and lock it.
the measurement were conducted on a test rig at the laboratory the pump
turbine system is capable of generating a head of up to 10 m ()during
open loop operation water is pumped to the overhead tank and allowed to
flow down to the turbine.
During the transient conditions the rotating speed was constant 1000rpm
and flow rate similar the guide vanes to set value of angle .
if flow rate stable and inlet pressure , write inlet energy, acquired time
clic acquire data and acquire presure and acquiring and restart
write different parametres NPSH, numbre of Thomas, head , efficiency
and time
the head across the turbine was similar with the measurments
the presented study was the investigation of the caviatation
in order to iflunce its effects on the pump-turbine performance.
with flow rate deceasing NPSH decreasing.Angle 26 and flow rate 314

in order to draw the graph of the efficiency of the turbine withe NPSH
we noticed a fluctuation in the efficiency(decrease and increase)
