He and Marje were married 50 years before
he passed away in May of 1986. Marjorie died
in 2012. Although Marjorie moved to Oregon
to be closer to family in 1994, Guernsey was
always considered home.
Over the past 10 years, Gordon Davis Park
has had some major changes, the biggest of
which was removal of the old swimming pool.
In its place, an amphitheater and new land-
scaping with a historical plaza commemorat-
ing the Oregon Trail and the Pony Express
were built. Restrooms and a dance floor have
also been added in the last several years.
The Davis children have continued to main-
tain their ties to Guernsey and followed the
progress of the park through newspaper sto-
ries and visits with friends.
In June, Marjean, husband Denny and
grandson Rylan spent an afternoon walking
through the park and the visitor center. It was
a poignant moment as they stopped to read
the plaque commemorating the naming of the
park. And though Rylan may not have under-
