Q.1 Both a gage and manometer are attached to an air tank to measure its pressure. If the reading on
the pressure gage is 65 kPa, determine the distance between the two fluid levels of the manometer if
the fluid is (a) mercury or (b) water

density l (l>). Show that the equilibrium is stable and the metacentric height is

Q.3 An open tank, shown in Fig.2, having dimensions 4mx3mx2m contains water to a height of 1.0 m. If
the tank is moving on a horizontal path at a constant acceleration of 2 m/s2, check whether water stays
in the tank or it will spill out. In addition, find out the pressure at the bottom of the front and rear edges
of the tank. Determine the magnitude of the acceleration at which the water starts spilling.

Q.4 A 1 m diameter and 2 m high sealed cylindrical vessel completely filled with petrol (SG=0.765) is
rotated about its axis at 100 rpm. Determine the difference in pressure force between the centre of the
top and bottom lids.
