Dear Newburg Middle School Site-Based Council members:

I am contacting you in response to the job posting that I viewed on glassdoor.com
(https://www.glassdoor.com/job-listing/ela-teacher-english-language-arts-jefferson-county-
public-schools-kentucky-JV_IC1137724_KO0,33_KE34,74.htm?jl=250365237) for an eighth grade
English/Language Arts teacher. As a recent graduate of Morehead State University with a Bachelors
degree in English education (grades 7-12), I believe that I am well-qualified for this position. I
recently completed a semester of student teaching, during which I gained a great deal of exposure
to the Kentucky Academic Standards (KAS), as well as the KTIP lesson plan format. Over the course
of my student teaching, I worked in tandem with my cooperating teacher to develop whole
instructional units, and create differentiated options for students with varying levels of content
knowledge. I have also completed two American and British literature surveys, as well as classes on
educational psychology, classroom management, and teaching writing in secondary schools. These
classes have allowed me to evolve into a well-rounded individual, with a lifelong passion for
literature and language arts, eager to pass along this enthusiasm and knowledge to my students.

During my high school years, I was a member of many clubs and organizations for which I found a
lifelong love. The Y-Club (KYYMCA) and academic team are two organizations with which I would
love to become involved at the mentor/advisor level. The opportunity to introduce students to
programs such as these programs that provide them with opportunities not otherwise available to
them is just one of the many reasons I have chosen teaching as my career. If given the
opportunity, I am certain that I would make a positive addition to the Newburg Middle School
