MIDDLE SCHOOL

Middle School
Weekly Publication for Middle School Parents ISSUE # 04
WEEK OF AUG. 30 TO SEPT. 03, 2010

From the Middle School Office

Dear Parents:

This week, we had the first of our new Activity Period afternoons. Each month, students will have the
opportunity to get involved in a variety of fun activities with their grade level. The focus of these activities
is team building and getting to know each other better. As well as building bonds as a grade level, students
were grouped in their “Houses” of Aklan (Purple), Baguio (Red), Cebu (Blue) and Davao (Orange). Students’
spirits were high!

After school activities began this week, and the excitement was obvious. Students dashed off to various
activities and clubs, such as Digital Imagery, Dance, Martial Arts and Salinlahi. We are thrilled that a large
number of students are getting involved and exploring their interests. If your child has not yet signed up for
a club or activity, it’s not too late. Registration is still open.

As of Friday, September 03, school will have been in session for five weeks. Progress Reports will be
distributed in the event that any of your child’s grades are at a C– equivalent, or below. We strongly
encourage you to check PowerSchool and talk with your child about their assignments, progress and level of
achievement.

From the Guidance Office

Dear ISM parents,

The PreK-12 Guidance Department is excited to announce the first Parent

Book Group of the 2010-11 school year. The book we will be reading over
this 10 week course is NurtureShock, written by Po Bronson and Ashley
Merryman. Instead of telling you what this book is about, we invite you to
look at the NurtureShock website http://www.nurtureshock.com/ , to
browse the articles and watch the videos, and decide if this looks like
something you or someone you know might be interested in. The group
will begin on Thursday, September 2 and tentatively meet every Thursday
that school is in session until late November. Each session will begin at 8
am and finish around 10. NurtureShock is appropriate for parents with
children of all ages. Interested parties please contact Myrna Perez in the
Elementary School Guidance Office to add your name to the list. In the
past these groups have been very popular and fill up almost as soon as
they are announced. Spaces are limited and are on a first come first
serve basis. Participants will need to acquire their own copy of the book
by the second meeting. It is available locally or through Amazon.

We are looking forward to your participation!

From the Security and Operations

Car Stickers and School Passes (ID cards) – Deadline August 30, 2010

The car stickers for the school year 2010/2011 are available from the security office.

For vehicles already displaying an existing sticker, parents should submit a completed renewal form with a
copy of the current LTO official receipt. For new vehicles, parents are reminded that a copy of the vehicle’s
certificate of registration and a current official receipt need to be submitted with the application. Applica-
tions for vehicles registered with companies or other institutions should be supported by a letter of assign-
ment.

Each ISM family will be issued one vehicle sticker free of charge. Any additional stickers will be issued fol-
lowing payment of Php100.00 to the cashier’s office.

In order to facilitate the easy recognition of authorized cars at the gates, the stickers should be affixed to
the top right corner of the windshield. Further to this, old ISM stickers issued in previous years should be
removed.

Vehicles not displaying this year’s car sticker will not be allowed general access from August 30.

ID Cards

Parent IDs
Parent IDs issued in previous school year will continue to be valid for the new school year 2010/2011.

Parents who require replacement school IDs due to loss or damage can acquire these from the Security Office
upon payment of Php100.00 to the Cashier.

School Passes

School passes issued to parents’ employees and representatives need to be replaced for this school year. As
of August 30, 2010 the maroon bordered passes issued for the school year 2009/2010 will be invalid.

Each family will be given two free school passes. Additional school passes may be obtained after paying a
processing fee of Php100.00 each to the Cashier’s Office.

Visitors’ Passes

All visitors must secure a pass from the guardhouse at Gate 3. Before entry will be allowed, a telephone
check will be made with the relevant office to confirm the visitor’s business within the school.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Best regards,

Mike Flynn
