Abstract

Syauqiyah Awaliyah Alfiani Nur. 2016. Teachers Perspective and Practices on Using IT in
ELT. Thesis S1. English Departement, Faculty of Languages and Literature, State
University of Makassar. (Under the supervision of A. Muliati and Munir).
This research aimed at finding out the teachers perspective on using ICT in ELT, the
teachers practices in using ICT in ELT, and the level of ICT development stage. This research
used descriptive method with quantitative and qualitative data. Questionnaire was used to find
out the teachers perspective on using ICT in ELT and teachers practices in using ICT in ELT.
Interview was used to collect supporting data. Stratified sampling technique was used to take
samples. The finding showed that the teachersperspective toward the use of ICT in ELT was
positive. They perceived that ICT was important and useful to stimulate students to want to learn
English. The practices in using ICT in ELT was in fair category.Based on the stages of ICT
continuum development, the teachers practices of ICT use in ELT at senior secondary schools in
Makassar was in the lower level of applying stage.
