Abstract

The College Management System is an internet based application that can be accessed
throughout the institution or a specified department. This system is being developed in a college
to maintain and facilitate easy access to information. This system can be used as a
knowledge/information management system for the college. For a given student and staff
(technical/Non-technical) can access the system to either upload or download some information
from database.
 Introduction

The main objective of college management system is to automate all functionalities of a

college or university. Using this system we can manage all college management work like
admission, fees submission, time table management and result declaration. Using this college
management system we can view or update data and information about students and staff easily.
This system helps in managing the activity like student admission, student registration, fees
submission. Admin can also retrieve information of employee student.

The COLLEGE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM can be used to store student information

like attendance, fees, and student result etc. Using this system we can register new student and
their course details. We can submit students fees and can check fees details anytime. We can
also add new employee in the system and can check details of the employee easily.

Using this system we can manage all information of all aspects of a college, its students,
faculties, Departments, marks and other curricular activities. College management system
provides the easiest way to manage all functionalities of a college. This system facilitates
colleges to maintain the functionality related to college employees and their students.

College Management System can store and manage all data of the various departments
of a college like Administration, Attendance, Staff details etc. Using this system teacher can
check student attendance anytime. College administration can also manage college work easily.
 Problem Statement

To design and develop an automated system, the project should carry out various tasks
that under goes college management. It will control all activities for a particular college. To
handle all the tasks, system has been divided into different modules and presented on a single
window, so that its user can handle it in eco-friendly manner.
 Objectives

The main objective of developing the current project entitled COLLEGE

MANAGEMENT SYSTEM is to build effective system which is fast, accurate,
consistency, reliable and flexible enough so that it can incorporate any future
enhancements.

This is a web oriented application allows us to access the whole information about the
college, staffs, students, facilities etc.
Here we will get the latest information about the students and staffs.
This generic application designed for assisting the students of an institute regarding
information on the courses, subjects, classes, assignments, grades and timetable.
It also provides support that a faculty can also check about his daily schedule, can upload
assignments, and notices to the students.

Joint Application Development (JAD)
Joint application development (JAD) is a prototyping life cycle methodology that uses
collaborative JAD workshops to depict the business viewpoint of end users (or customers) for
effective solution development. In project development, the historical approach involves
individual stakeholder interviews, which may not yield appropriate required output. JAD team
workshops are geared toward summarizing and resolving development issues through a joint
effort between developers and end users.
JAD process steps are as follows:

Designate executive sponsor and team members

Establish a JAD process orientation and requirements related to system, benefits,
risks and problem solving
Prepare materials and software tools, schedule design sessions and conduct meetings
To complete the design session, the project scope and goals of the project are closely
examined
Data and system requirements are identified to develop prototypes
Finalization, where a presentation is delivered to the executive sponsor; prototype is
demonstrated and design documentation is completed. The entire JAD process is
evaluated.

JAD enhances user participation, thereby improving specification quality. Projects

adhering to the JAD methodology are critical for an organization's future success. JAD is applied
to new systems, conversions, and enhancements and purchasing. JAD workshops require several
key process participants and occur over a three- to five-day period.

JAD Advantages and Disadvantages:

When properly used, JAD can result in a more accurate statement of system
requirements, a better understanding of common goals, and a stronger commitment to the
success of the new system.

Disadvantages

More expensive and can be cumbersome if the group is too large relative to the size of
the project
