Presidents Message Nov/Dec Meeting

Hey sisters of Kappa Phi! Hope you are prepping for a
delicious Thanksgiving! I want to ask for your help with some
recyclables. My middle school has a Makerspace where kids
can tinker and create and learn about electronics. Sometimes
they like to do art projects. I am asking you to save your paper
towel tubes and toilet paper rolls for our art projects. I will
also take any water bottles with lids and old CDs you are not
listening to anymore. Any fabric or yarn you have sitting
around can also help us. I will take if off your hands at the
Christmas Auction & Supper
Going once, going twice, SOLD to the highest bidder!
Its once again time to hear these words as we gather for fun,
food, and our annual auction. We will be raising funds for
Early Educators at Strickland Elementary.
Bring one or more items to be auctioned; bring a friend; bring
your favorite holiday dish; and bring your checkbook!

I have deposited dues for 23 active and 3 reserve
members. I wrote checks for 15 members to the
Holocaust Museum, and sent Rose Kidson her Grant-in-
Aid check for $500. I had expenses for a receipt book
and reimbursement for the gift cards we donated to the
convention. I also had to order checks.
We received a great note from MacKenzie Clowe! Love
hearing that we made a great choice in our Grant-in-Aide
recipients last year.
Which brings us to our Auction for 2
this year. Hopefully, you are
gathering your items to be auctioned
and saving your cash with which you
will purchase items your Sisters have
donated. Don't forget to invite your
friends, especially those who at one time were part of
Kappa Phi.

Strickland Updates
We are finally getting going at Strickland. Because
there are only two of us, Nancy and I have let the
staff know that we will only be available to help
them with clerical work on the first and third
Tuesdays of the month. Should you decide to join
us, it will be no problem to insert you into the
schedule. We would love to have some help. When
I told DeDe we would begin our volunteering, one
of the teachers within earshot clapped for joy with a
huge grin on her face. Join us! You will be much

.. ordered two jump drives today for the
new Vice Principals at Strickland. The jump
drives have our logo...thought they could be

You all should have received your new
2017-2018 Year Book. Upon learning that
Lee Nitcholas faced a family illness, Celeste
Craig quickly stepped in to help get this
years version completed. Thank you,
Celeste. We have once again received the
Early Bird Award.
Harvey Relief Update: Member to Member
is covered. Campus Donations are still
needed. Our chapter hopes to partner with
Strickland to assist an affected school.

There are many wonderful articles in this
addition. I found the article Research Can
Discover the Past - pg. 8 to be of interest; as
well as the ASTEF awards stipends for 2017-
2018 -pg. 9. Several awards were given for
working with early educators. Perhaps one of
you would volunteer to contact those chapters
for more information. Page 11 has a form for
distribution of DKG Jewelry. Theres an article
of interest for most any member.
DKG NEWS
The Nov/Dec hard copy issue is packed with
many articles of interest from presenters at the
upcoming International Convention to artists
and the butterfly effect to making members
matters. In this issue Dear Annie has kind
words for all the wonderful recording
secretaries that preserve our chapters history.
