Play Days Parade

MARK YOUR
The band performed in Monterey Parks Play Days Parade on May 13th. CALENDARS
Band Booster Mr. Shiroishi kindly provided a truck to transport the bands
instruments and shako boxes. He also generously bought the group June 1
delicious Costco hot dogs. Other band boosters provided cookies, chips,
tangerines, and water. After eating lunch, the students explored the area, Make-Up Try Outs
buying more food or going on rides. The exciting day was closed off with the 3-5 P.M.
Awards Ceremony.

Graduation Band Orientation

The band and orchestra had been diligently practicing for graduation for 5 P.M.
several weeks, and they finally got to exhibit all of their hard work on May
(Room C-113)
27th. The students started off the graduation with Highlights from WICKED.
Later, as the graduating seniors walked, the band and orchestra performed
Pomp and Circumstance for more than fourteen minutes! Although all of
their lips (or arms for the non-winds) were exhausted, the band and
orchestra sounded just as beautiful. As the ceremony concluded, the
orchestra played See You Again and both instrumental programs performed
Born This Way. It was a bittersweet night for many.

Congratulations to the Class of 2017 and the new section leaders, drum
majors, and Band Council members!
