SUBJECT SYLLABUS

Letter to Students
Dear Students,

As BEED and BSED student, you are going to handle different subjects and one
of which is MAPE. In this subject, you will be equipped with fundamental lessons on
Music, Arts, and Physical Education which are essential foundations of MAPE subject.
This subject will help you better understand our culture and you will be able to
serve as an instrument in transmitting this to the next generation. The success of an
effective discussion does not rest on books but on the initiative and the resourcefulness
of the mentors.

Subject Description
This course covers the necessary things that need to understand in physical
education, art and music education. The course relates the importance of this subject. It
will help you to teach music as a means of self-expression particularly in singing and
performing rhythmic activities; it inspires students to use their creativity in creating,
exploring materials, and discovering how things look and work; and it provides vigorous
physical activities necessary to help in physical development.
Program Learning Outcomes
This subject is intended for students who are taking up Bachelor of Elementary
Education and Bachelor of Secondary Education. This will provide them with the basic
principles, and information about the MAPE subject.
This will help you, internalize the core values of Baliuag University: Respect,
Integrity, Service, Excellence and Responsibility.
You have to show sense of responsibility in accomplishing the tasks assigned to
you. You also have to be responsible in submitting the outputs on the given deadline
without sacrificing the quality of your works. Original works should be submitted. You
respect for someones work is also important to be observed. You may give constructive
feedbacks without giving any offensive remark. For your classmates who need help, you
may give them assistance provided that you will not train them to be dependent on you.
As you develop all these core values will help you become better educator on the
future.

Student Learning Outcomes


By the end of this subject, students will be able to:
1. Intensify appreciation of arts and music, particularly the Philippines cultural
heritage.
2. Discuss the different components of music, arts, and physical education.
3. Appreciate the different forms and styles of Foreign and Philippine Music.
4. Utilize music as a means of personal expression.
5. Recognize and value the ethnic products made by the Filipino artist
6. Express appreciation for the contributions of artists to society.
7. Show discipline in performing physical activities.
8. Stimulate interest in and appreciation for different physical activities.
9. Learn and perform different physical activities.
10. Enrich lifes experiences through exploration, discovery, cooperation and
participation in the class.

Subject Requirements:
You need to attend this subject once a week (three hours per meeting). Since you
are enrolled in this course, you are expected to comply with the following requirements:
art activities, physical education activities, musical presentations, assignments, written
papers, assessment reports, projects, group or individual performances. You also have
to do library or Internet researches for further information on a certain topic.
You will also take examination and quizzes which are components of your period
grade.
Grading Criteria
Students will be graded according to:

1. Examinations
There are four major examinations which you have to take. 40%
These are the Preliminary, Mid-Term, Semi-Finals and Finals.
2. Active participation and presentation in class
You should not only be present during meeting but you should to
be actively participate on specified activities. 30%
3. Quizzes/projects/assignments
Quizzes should be done and submitted to complete the criterion.
Submit required project and assignments on specified dates. 20%
4. Decorum
Everyone is expected to have complete attendance (includes attitudes). 10%

In every grading period, please feel free to request for feedback on your work and
expectations about your graded work.

Teaching Methods and Classroom Activities


The following learning experiences and strategies can be utilized by the teacher to
properly execute the lesson, further improve the instruction and achieve the desire
learning objectives: round table discussion, group dynamics, cooperative learning, self-
assessment and peer assessment. Each activity will be utilized depending upon the topic
to be discussed.
Round table discussion is used to discuss issues and share opinions, strategies
and the like concerning in particular topic. Group dynamics will be used to allow the
students share experiences, give feedback, pool ideas, generate insights, and provide
arena for scrutiny of experiences. Thus, this can help develop the students creativity and
collaboration. Cooperative learning allows the students to work in groups to complete the
given tasks collectively. Self-assessment and peer assessment will be conducted to give
constructive feedbacks about ones work and performance of the others.
Through these activities and strategies, the students will be able to further develop
their collaboration and higher-order thinking skills as they are exposed to varied learning
activities and experiences which are significant in their learning.
